Sunset and Moonrise at the Beach About a week ago, my family went to the beach and we took my dog Patrick. We go to the beach sometimes at sunset or dusk, because no one else is there. And when the weather is warmer, Patrick loves to run along the shore in the waves. I love to watch him run, and he chases the birds, definitely in his blood being a setter. It was particularly beautiful because the sun set, and the moon (which was full) was rising at the same time. Here are some photos of our sunset and moonrise at the beach. Rudy's Pub and Grill in Newport Beach Rudy's Pub and Grill has evolved to one of the hot spots in Newport Beach. Located right on Newport Boulevard in Newport Beach, the building that Rudy's occupies was originally the House of Pies 20 years ago. Lido Island is a man made Island located in the harbor of Newport Beach, California. The only way to the this small community is a small bridge or by boat. There is no commercial buildings on the Island, it is all residential. While real estate all around us is decreasing, Lido Island seems to be doing just fine! Commodores Club of the Newport Beach Chamber of Commerce hosted the 47th annual Sandcastle Contest The 47th Annual Sandcastle Contest was yesterday in Corona del Mar.  The sandcastles are absolutely amazing. There are architecture firms, businesses, families and children competing in this event. It is a great way to spend the day with your family either building the sandcastles or just watching the incredible talent. I went to the sandcastle  contest with my two daughters Heather and Morgan. A Dog Day Afternoon in Newport Shores One of the many benefits in living in Newport Shores is the Canal that surrounds the area. The Canal is fed by the ocean, and the water level goes up and down with the tide. Many people who have lived in Newport Beach do not even realize that it exists. The most used beach is Larry's Beach located on Polaris between Morning Star and Evening Star Lanes.
