It's pretty hard to avoid the sounds of Christmas today. I've already rang the bell by the red kettle when I was also selling hot dogs for "The Horn of Plenty" and I've heard them just about everywhere I've shopped as well.  It's pretty hard to escape the Christmas music if you are downtown where my office is too. With the lighting of Minot's official Christmas tree downtown and the decorated light posts it's also looking a lot like Christmas as well.

Grateful to Give Being in real estate for the last 18 years has afforded me many blessings. I have been able to provide for my family & save for retirement. I sell homes and I own & broker a property management company. The property manangement can be gruesome sometimes but it allows for a steady income when I haven't sold a home.  But mostly, it has allowed me to give! Every year my husband I give to someone or something above and over our usual tithing. The last 5 or so years we have deciced to help single moms.  The Lord always puts on mine or my husbands heart who that single mom should be. Sometimes it is a single mom in our family or someone that we heard of that needs help through our church. The last one was a lady at our financial planners office. She mentioned to us while we w...

Speechless Sunday Sunset - Nature's Canvas Echos Van Gogh's Starry Night...Well, Sort of! This evening, I couldn’t believe how fortunate I was to arrive home, just in time to snap a photo of our breathtaking sunset. The colors in the sky were a vivid tapestry, similar the colors in the swirling sky of Van Gogh's iconic "The Starry Night." It was as if the masterpiece had come alive in the heavens above us. Granted the colors weren't swirling as Van Gogh's did but, the colors certainly are similar. The blend of oranges, purples, and blues created a mesmerizing scene that seemed almost surreal. The colors intertwined with one another like a visual symphony - another similarity to the artistic genius of Van Gogh! It was one of those rare moments when nature imitates art - another perfectly ...

Motivational Monday…No “I” in Team Playing in some kind of team sport when you’re young teaches much more than the importance of fielding in baseball.  With luck and guidance, we learn that it takes the whole TEAM to win. Recently I heard this saying….  Sometimes being a team player meanssitting on the bench.   We know what that means but how does that relate to our lives, business, and personal? A fellow placement consultant turned a new client over to me once because she felt I could do a better job with this particular company.  It ended up being a win-win for us and our company because the consultant’s forte was working with applicants. We made many placements at that company.  This summer I saw one of the top starting pitchers (not Verlander) get benched after the 1st Inning!  He w...

If you're a devoted Longhorn fan who tuned into Friday night's showdown against Texas Tech, you're undoubtedly basking in the glory of Austin's exuberant celebration following the resounding 57-7 victory. This triumph not only served as sweet redemption for last year's upset by Texas Tech but also solidified the Longhorns' dominance on the field.  The top of the UT Tower shined with burnt orange lights Friday, November 24 to celebrate Texas Football’s victory over Texas Tech. Having acquired two #1 jerseys with “Worthy” on the back for Hudson and Beckett at the beginning of the season, it turned out to be a timely investment, in light of the team's recent triumph. The crowd always chants “Go Worthy” because of the performance of Xavier Worthy, the third-year wide receiver who moves wit...

A special Thanksgiving story by Debe Maxwell, CRS...   Thanksgiving Gratitude - My Amazing Hubby   As many of you know, my secret to success started many moons ago...   In my former life, I proudly served as a Registered Nurse in the Trauma Operating Room at a top-tier, Level 1 trauma center here in Charlotte. During my downtime (when my trauma OR didn’t have a patient in it), I often helped out in the Recovery Room (PACU). It was there that I crossed paths with one of the hospital's Vice Presidents, leading to an exciting opportunity. I became one of the first six nurses chosen to establish a new home care facility. To my amazement & delight, this facility grew into one of the most prominent in the Southeast, employing a large team of nurses, pharmacists, physical therapists and variou...
