Having the right tools in every profession matters... as most of you who read my posts, know I love cooking and having the right tools helps me make some of the best dishes relatively easy. All because of having the right tools, the right cookbooks, the right skill set and the right ingredients.I do not have an outdoor grill, so I substitute everything indoors. Tonight, I made Mexican Street Corn, in a skillet since grilling was not an option.Needless to say, I had the right tool...  Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Did you know that the average homeowner has a net worth 38 times higher than the average renter?Well as a seasoned Realtor I did know this, ironically not all buyers do and many buyers are not willing to compromise the "better" rental location to what they can afford in their "budget".  Sadly, that is an ego and status problem. In the long run the renters lose out.Yes, there are benefits to calling the landlord or the manager if there is an issue when it comes to plumbing, electricity and other issues. On the other hand, a few calls to a good electrician and a plumber as a homeowner goes a long way. Just my two cents.Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. This Memorial Day: We are Honoring the Fallen Soldiers. May I say, we should do this all year around, not just today or should I say once a year. These were our true Heroes, they never made it home to enjoy our Freedom.“This is the day we pay homage to all those who didn't come home. This is not Veterans Day, it's not a celebration, it is a day of solemn contemplation over the cost of freedom." –Tamra Bolton I have been saying this message for decades. Some listened and learned, others did not. I still get emails with the headline: Happy Memorial Day. I also get greeted with the same message. I just politely smile, and it tells me something about that person. If it is an email, I just shake my head and mumble a few choice words. "It is foolish and wrong to mourn the men who died. Rather...

Speechless Sunday: Have you ever seen a resting hummingbird? Well, how about two?... as I was cleaning the dishes (well it is Mother's Day you know) I saw these two birds from the kitchen window.I mentioned to Diane, that we need to put food out, since the birds are starring into our kitchen, clearly, they must be hungry. She said they were Humming birds. I did not believe her, but when they took off, I had to admit she was right. They were humming birds. They proceeded to fly to the lemon tree, and it is hard to see, but one of them decided to rest there for a photo opportunity.Hard to see but to the left of the top lemon the little guy is sitting on the branch about an inch and a half away on the photo.Hope you had a fun and relaxing Mother's Day weekend.  Wishing you a safe and healthy...

The Annual Food Drive: Second Saturday in May, Diane & I have been supporting this great cause for the past ten years. We are blessed and happy that we are well off and can help others.Every year the Postal Employees that deliver our mail come by and drop off the bag two days before it and in turn send a card as well.We in turn fill up the bag and put it out. Today I noticed that our regular mail carrier was not around. As Holly and I returned from our 5:30 pm walk the bag was still there. Across the street I saw the fill in mail carrier. I flagged him down; he said once he delivered the mail he would come around to pick up the bag.Around 8:30pm out of character the mail was delivered. 10:00pm on Holly's evening walk the bag was still on our front porch. What a shame, I said to Diane ear...

Have you thought about just making a Mediterranean style dinner? I was at Trader Joe's yesterday, and I saw a few ingredients that made me say OK this will be tonight's dinner. Now with that said the Ravioli got my attention, with fantastic mushrooms that should be served in five start restaurants and made in Italy. What more could I ask? Then I saw these other mushrooms called Brown Beech Mushrooms fresh. Needless to say, had to add that to the meal. When in doubt you need protein, and I am a huge fan of their Argentinian red shrimp. Hence that was added to it as well. Then to top it off I saw Artisan Style Bread Olive Fougasse seldom available at Trader Joe's, and I knew I had my Mediterranean dinner. Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. If you are look...

Friday Fun Day: It is all about perspective... as some of you remember I posted not too long ago about a large lemon I picked from our backyard. Some of you were impressed and thought it was the size of a grapefruit.I did not want to be rude and say "no you are wrong" so with that said, I went out and bought a small watermelon to show you the real perspective:))Now with that said you can see that this lemon is much larger than a grapefruit:))Hope you take this lightly and have a fun Mother's Day weekend.Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Flashback in time: 200 years ago, today Beethoven performed his 9th, Symphony. I have been introduced to it around 1971/1972-time frame thanks to a movie called A Clockwork Orange, by Stanly Kubrick. Thanks to him for the past 51 to 52 years I have enjoyed Beethoven's 9th Symphony.Tonight, my classical radio station 91.5 https://www.kusc.org/ had a special about the history and background of the 9th Symphony followed by  a performance of the 9th with Michael Tilson Thomas and the San Francisco Orchestra. What a performance. If you like Beethoven and classical music this is one for you.I have a special connection with this performance, because Beethoven performed it in Vienna where I spent a year going to school hence it is extra special for me.Again happy 200th year celebration of Beetho...

Balsamic Fig Reduction: one of my favorite meal enhancers... I remember many years ago when I bought a Balsamic Vinegar with Fig infused and I paid top dollar for it.After I tasted it, I decided that was the last time and I will make my own. Needless to say you do not need to pay top dollar and can make your own.Every year I would take some fresh figs and then do my own reduction and infusing it with the fresh figs. This year there were hardly any fresh figs on the market, so I bought some dried figs. So, with that said here is my recipe for the Balsamic Fig Reduction:1. Quarter the figs about a handful plus2. Add two bottles of Balsamic Vinegar from Modena3. Boil it for about 20 minutes or so4. Then reduce the heat and continue for another 15 minutes. Basically, convert and reduce the t...

I know it has been four years since the mask mandates came into effect. I have been wearing the mask 80% of the time... Going to the grocery stores I find it is a must as most people are back to their evil ways of sneezing, coughing without covering their mouth.Rude people try to get in your face like before. Hence, I continue to wear the mask. When it comes going to the office, well you know once every six months to a year I do not wear it, and most people are kind and do give our space.I do get it cover your nose and cover your mouth. So who do you help out? Probably the person who least expects it, when you sneeze or cough you are probably protecting them... I am hoping on it might help me as well. On a side note the top photo in the post was on the wall of the Vet Hospital we just v...

Well, I am a huge lobster fan, especially if it is from Maine, now with that said I was looking at photos and a few popped up from a year or so ago.My question is what is more fun reminiscing about great food I had, or I made? Or about going on listing appointments in historic Laurel Canyon?Well to me it is a hard decision, since generally speaking the listings will generate my food tastes:) Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Another Vacant lot Sold! Interestingly I sold this lot a few years ago, the buyer wanted to have seller financing and sadly the buyer ended up defaulting. On a side note, I did not represent the buyer. Now with that said this time it was an all-cash transaction again not my buyer.Directions : Head North on San Fernando Rd to Future St to Kemper St to Cliff DrRemarks : Huge Price reduction, this is the best priced view lot in Mount Washington area. One of the largest lots in the area and it has a gentle up slope, truly a rare find in the area. Great for a developer or for an owner user who wants to build a view home in the coveted Mount Washington area of Los Angeles. All the utilities are in the street all you have to do is connect to them. Seller financing is available, reach out to the...
