We will not talk about politics tomorrow even though everyone attending shares the same viewpoints. We need a break and need to talk about family and friends.

I'll be celebrating at my sister's, and I called to make sure everyone was on the same page with the election. What a relief!

We are enjoying a nice escape away with our Golden Retriever.  We are only talking about things that matter.  Dog beach, poop bags, food, water, fun, greeting strangers, sleeping...repeat daily.  Happy Thanksgiving

I listen politely and offer very little if nothing in the way of opinion. Then try to steer the conversation back to real estate.

I did see that report.  Hopefull one of the other 47% won't be sitting across from me.  LOL    Most of the people I hang out with, though, are of the same mind so probably not a problem.  

As for clients, I do have some that are way on the other side of the fence... and we respectfully agree to disagree, so avoid discussing it.  

Believe it or not, I have had no clients bring up politics and the election this year. I wouldn't comment. I'd probably smile and change the subject. 

I have no problem with pointing out the truth.

Tbankfully it has not come up at all - I was dreading it. I prefer to keep those discussions to personal family

We made it a rule this year, all cell phones collected doing dinner and no talking about politics, first one that does will get have to do the dishes for 9 people.

As a notary, I must be neutral and impartial, and serve everyone, so I don't talk politics or religion.

I recently went to the home of a homebound senior citizen to notarize a power of attorney, and visiting family members were there that had opposing political views and were arguing.

Set politics aside when caring for family that needs your help.

My family talked politics during our dinner - it was a great conversation - then again we don't have any millenials so we have very educated and mature conversations!

Lise Howe Generally, I avoid discussing politics with clients, just listen. Nowadays, people talk about election more than before.

It depends on the client.

I try my best to be diplomatic.

A question like that was asked on a local radio chanel here in L.A.. I think I would  say: "Let's leave politics at the door and just enjoy the holiday."

Same with clients. We can talk about anything other than politics.

If they're on my side of the spectrum, I have a great conversation.  If they're on the other side, I keep my mouth shut and listen to them.  They usually think I'm a staunch supporter of their cause by the end, even though I never agreed with anything.

I listen - but don't say much about my personal thoughts.  I have said repeatedly that the results are "shocking" - which they are regardless of where you come down on how you voted.

I let them talk.  

I saw it . I am glad no one discussed with me.

There is nothing left to say, it is time for the media to let go and bring people together instead of continuing to drive a wedge between us all. True family respects each others beliefs and will leave well enough alone.

Since I will be with my parents who are more conservative than me, I am surprised Donald and Melania will not be invited. It will be a 'Love Fest'!

I listen and change the subject..we need to be discussing family and friends ..so done with the political comments. Time to move on. Hate and disrespect have no place on Thanksgiving Day (and really any other day).

Oh yes, I've been hearing about this over the last week or two on the radio while I'm waking up.

I basically avoiding talking politics w/ customers until the election.  Now, after the election, most people are openly discussing, but broaching very carefully.  It's often obvious based on education/religious background who people voted for, so now people are feeling more comfortable bringing up w/ some people.

Yes, I saw that on a tweet on Twitter. 

Those must have been the 53% whose candidate didn't win the election!  Just kidding! 

Seriousy, I had one catting it up about the election on Monday; she was from Florida and was so proud of how her, (now) former state voted.  She said she was relieved that she was moving to another 'Trump' state!  (We were also a swing state that did go his way.) 

The only thing I said - Jokingly, I reminded her that she is now living in a county that did NOT support her candidate! LOL  She did everything she could to get out of me, who I voted for - it was hysterical!  I don't mind them talking about it - I just don't express my viewpoints to my clients!  

A year ago or more, someone answered a similar question on ActiveRain.  He said his response (approximately) was, "My political opinions---and they're long---are worth $1000/hr.  Would you rather pay me to go into this with you, or discuss (the houses you want to look at)?"

I thought it instructive, lol.
