ledge underground.... often results in radon reading in the finished home built over it.... needs perimeter drains to divert water....bedrock is solid and without drainage.... and you need town sewer for the home above that bedrock.... may need to blast it to get a foundation in the ground over it.... 

The only bedrock I'm aware of is where Fred and Wilma lived.......OMG. Sorry. Couldn't resist.
