I think it depends on the question and the intent by including a link to the post. If it's just an attempt to get traffic and comments, that's one thing, but there could be good reasons to share the information in the post - I don;t really want to have to read another post before responding to a question, however.
I wouldn't want to see this become a frequent occurrence. That might be time for AR to weigh in. And with any question like this there is always to choice to simply move on

I don't like it and will purposely not click away to read someone's post. The same as I won't click away from AR to read the balance of an article somewhere else. Ask a question and use the platform in the manner in which it was intended and stop trying to play the system. Not quite clickbait but close!
PS Surprised you by not saying I'm keeping my eyes on my own paper?

I think it depends. I know "It depends" answers are terrible for establishing rules, but my thought process is that sometimes the posts are generally here for the greatest good of AR. People teach navigation tricks or give useful writing advice. Or, they reference a topic that none of us are familiar with.
I wouldn't want to see someone attach a listing, product, service, or run of the mill AR article. But when there is innovation I do not mind.

Wayne and Jean,
I don't like it, and I don't like a half written post that I have to click elsewhere to read. If somebody wants to do it, that is fine....A

I like it when it is alerting me to a special post I would otherwise miss. Not when it is just to drive traffic to an otherwise ordinary blog.

Human nature at work. Give a little, then more & more then U have a runaway. It is hard to regulate if you leave it to chance. If boundaries, its easier. One thing though, once something picks up steam, it grows & strong

Wayne and Jean Marie Zuhl - I do it, at times to promote a re-blog of some members.
Sometimes I do to to promote the event - I am hosting a meet up in San Diego/LA area - so a question to ask members to join me.
Sometimes I do ask a question to enter the contest - mostly on the last day to increase the participation.
I personally do not believe there is anything wrong in it.
Just one more way to spread the word.

Genrally speaking, I don't like it and find it shameless promotion. But there are exceptions when I think it is a valuable educational experience for members... like Ryan Huggins post on how to search the Q&A yesterday.

NO .... NO .... NO Gee, how do you think I feel about that?
I really think it's tacky & personally I don't want to read posts that are telling me what brilliant post I should check out next. Especially when they are horrible!
Heck, some of the posts on the AR Drip Newsletter are terrible & I'm tired of commercials both personal & otherwise trying to be passed off as posts.
I always try to hide how I feel .....

I'm in the "it depends" camp. Sometimes I think it's appropriate and necessary, and other times not. If I don't want to click I pass on by. The incident you are referring to didn't bother me.

I do see it often Wayne and Jean Marie Zuhl, and it usually gives more information/details about the question that is posted, and sometimes you really need the backstory, because it helps with your reply and in understanding the question. And in those situations, you can tell who did not read it . . .

I think it depends on the motivation. When I did it yesterday, the blog post was on searching the Q&A section and was directly related to several questions that had occurred over the prior months on searching this section.
I sure wouldn't use it to promote my market blogs or listings!

I'm not a fan of this approach. If a person answers a question and refers to a blog post should anyone want additional information, I'm okay with that.
-
Wayne Zuhl

I have posted a blog post as part of a question if and only if it pertains to the question and presents valuable information or food for thought. A blog is meant to share ideas in my opinion and Q & A is also meant to be informative. Most questions I've asked are internal and meant mainly for real estate professionals so promoting a blog post to fellow professioanals is not meant to create business, just respect from fellow professionals.

I normally do not click on links in this section UNLESS...it is something I am really interested in.
