I don't believe it - Bichons are on the anti-allergy list if you want to say. I think that the buyer is psychologically being sensitive. Read up on it & you'll see.

Firstly, there is no such thing as Hypo-allergenic. It is a made up marketing term as everyone is unique and allergic to different things. Some to hair, some to dander, some to drool . . .
I would suggest they get to the Dr and get some shots. When we were kids we had a brother who was allergic to our dogs, cats, goats, horse, birds, hay . . . everything we owned. I wanted to trade him in for another dog but my parents refused. (still don't understand that decision!) Instead, he went every week for shots and now owns his own menagerie!

Lisa,
You have the best answers, and I am laughing myself silly over Susan Emo 's comment. Lyn Sims also make a lot of sense. A

Get those annual allergy shots.
The most overlooked collector of these allergens are beneath appliances such as the refrigerator and range.

In addirion to what's been said, try Kilz or something similar on the walls, seal the grout, maybe refinish the floors, remove drapes, carpet/anything in basement.

I'm surprised, because Bichon Frises are considered suitable for people with allergies...

Lisa, I love dogs. I hate allergies!
I can't think of another thing to do, as we just went through the exact same exercise in February and did the only things you mentioned. When we moved my husband was only a couple of months past nasal polyp surgery and still trying to control allegies. We did what you said. I had the air ducts pro cleaned and treated for mold. Even I, who has very mild allergies, walked in the home after the air duct cleaning and mold mist and could tell the home air was cleaner. It was expensive, but I wouldn't skip that step. Ours wasn't pet, but heavy remodel dust. Same thing here, we chose a home with mainly solid surface flooring and carpet areas had new carpet. If I think of another - as I wake up and walk around - I will circle back.

1. Do the things you have mentioned.
2. Buy something else.
3. Buy lots of Alergy meds.

Lise, some interesting answers - however I think it is all in mind after everythingis done .

Hospital grade ozone machine run for at least an hour takes everything out of the air that even severely allergic people react to. She may be able to rent one from a medical supply store. Residence hotels often have them.

I think you have it covered. If that isn't going to work, then maybe the buyer needs to consider another house.

Outside of what you have done (deep clean house and air ducts), and suggested (carpeting on stairs) I do not know Lise Howe. I wouldn't think that repainting after washing walls would help, though like Annette Lawrence , Palm Harbor, FL 727-420-4041 comment about cleaning under appliances. I think if 'allergy shots' was the next line of action, I would start considering seeing/showing another house (sad to say if they love-love this house).

Taking response of Lyn Sims to a deeper level:
If client does some soul-searching, he/she can find out if she is willing to investigate a short-cut on all the enormous work and expense of the proposed changes. They are all valid, but looking into why such a severe reaction exists to a dog normally safe for sensitive people could have much better payoff. Once that is understood, a little NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) may be very useful to turn off the body's war. Caution: understanding the original reason for the reaction is very important, because if the trigger is turned off before the motive understood, the war may break out in some other arena instead.
If client goes to a counsellor of some sort, s/he might look into to whom s/he is really allergic.

If I knew about the dogs efore the showing i would not show that house UNLESS the buyer demanded to see it and to buy it. I think a disclosure to cover myself would also be in order.

Clean filters, floors, drapery, ducts and maybe call a company the specializes? I'm throwing out guesses here, never been in that situation.

I had this happen recently - the back yard had a terrible odor of dog and hair everywhere - we had to have the entire yard re-done and the entire interior house painted and funagated.

I just wrote about this situation today in my blog. I have a buyer is quite allergic, home as newer carpet but a couple of dogs and 4 cats. The buyer asked for a credit for new carpets and seller has a blow up . If professional cleaning can not guarantee it to be allergy free Lise Howe , then replacing carpets is a must
