I take safety measures with passwords, financial and home security, but I just assume everything I do online or out an about in our 1984 Big Brother society is being watched, peeped on video and public domain. I'm not that interesting, so if people want to watch me, enjoy,  I just pray they send royalty checks. All my computers require an external, screen clip-on web cam, I just leave them facing my floor until I use them. All they get to see is the back of my monitor and the spaghetti of USB cables behind my desk 

If they look in on me, they are the ones that should be scared, not me!

For years the clip you see at the top middle of the labtop covers the camera.

I do not worry about it, and my camera is unobstructed. In this era of global terriorism, I suspect that all of my electronic communications are tapped, and am all right with that. If they want to monitor my camera, let it be. I do not come naked to the office, so there is not too much excitement at the other end of the camera lens.

I've had a folder paper taped over mine for years!  I am far too trusting of people yet have not been too trusting of technology.  

Thank you for the shout out about my 60 Minutes post.  We all just need to be AWARE .... and make our choices from a place of awareness.

I just don't turn my webcam on LOL - problem solved - software uninstalled and no camming :)

I use black electrical tape to cover mine.   Blends in so well, most people don't even notice it.

Since I'm not the director of the FBI, I hadn't worried about it but thanks for sharing Kathleen Daniels post, I had missed that and is certainly interesting and precautionary.

I cant imagine anyone wanting to monitor my webcam, it would be a very boring video of me typing away for hours and hours each day.

I've never used my webcam but I'm of the belief if I'm doing no wrong I have no worries of being watched.  However, with regard to personal safety, I always disable the Location Services app on my phones.

I have always done this and years ago many laughed at me about it.  Nowadays, no one laughs and follows suit (if they haven't already done so)

Anyone in law enforcement ups their caution game. They have too whether it is real or imagined. As far as privacy goes? We are all under some sort of surveillance known or unknown..to be sure. Anyone can drop in on anyone

Actually we have taped our Webcam for a few years now Susan Laxson.  We have still had glitches, in spite of not opening attachments, nor unknown senders.  Fortunately none of the glitches have resulted in destroyed hard drive, and we always do back-ups.  I will check-out the two Posts you mentioned!

Yes but i do not go as far as taping me camera. Most important is not clicking on any link in an email, facebook or any page that could corrupt my computer and information,

There are so many ways to get access to our information.   Will need to think about some tape on my laptop.

I don't for a minute believe the internet, or even offline life these days, holds any personal privacy or any real security. 

Good morning Susan. I have a cover that I use when I am not sure Skype.

my desktop doesn't have a camera.  My laptop has a chip clip on it when it's open.  My phone has something sitting over the lens when not in use by me.

I've often wondered about the camera on our older  laptop.

I don't think about that but he however is in a very hig profile postion and he may not want to be blackmailed.

I've been doing it for a while.  

After reviewing the 60 minutes video it really doesn't matter if you put a piece of paper over your laptop computer.  If they can get into your phone that easily they can get more information than just what you have on the computer.  This is not good at all!

I've always been concerned about it.  My more intersting mail goes to a PO box as does anything that is searchable online (real estate license, HAM radio license, etc.).  Any groups that I'm a part of where I can be targetted because of being a member have my address as a PO Box.  I also make sure I'm locked and loaded with one in the chamber and the safety off 24x7.

Susan Laxson I don't put tape over my webcam, but I will. I saw the 60 Minutes segment. These were good guys. What are the bad guys doing. No one is safe anymore.

I don't even want to think about that....when I'm done with my computer, I shut it down....

I'm not a FBI director and if someone wants to hake my laptop camera, they'll find it extremely boring since I keep my laptop open only if I work on it. 

I have been doing that for a long time and only uncover it when I'm using it for Skype or similar applications.

Since I don't have any webcams, it's a moot point for me.

Everyone wants to know what the director of the FBI is doing! How stupid but I know what he means. Supposedly 'they' can watch you if you have your laptop open.
