Bob,
I don't comment, and I don't report. And I doubt that either one of us who befriend anyone who did that. From an early age I was taught to be respectful of every religion and sect thereof. Lebanon, where I was born has 18 religions represented in their Parliament.
My mother was Catholic and my father was Greek Orthodox. They had friends among all 18 religions, and my Russian father negotiated oil leases all over the Middle East, and also worked to help build the new state of Israel. That in itself is a testament to how trusted and well regarded my father was. A

Religion is so personal, an individual choice. I have been a student of the nature of spirituality for 40+ years, and 2 things are for sure: There are good and bad in every faith. And there will never be just one path. Most people are clueless and some are sadly pathetic. Overlook with compassion and stay your own course. That's all I got! ;)

Bob, On Facebook I'd evaluate if I even want to be associated with them at all. On AR I wouldn't hesitate to click the Report button. It's a clear violation of AR terms.
And perhaps I don't agree with this video :)

I chuckle and remember a line I once heard "Arguing over religion is like arguing over who's imaginary friend is better." I don't report or confront.
Unless it's a religion who is trying to exterminate infidels through a jihad. Respect me = I respect you and your religion. Want to kill me = lock & load.

Insult is a strong word indicating a personal attack. I would better be able to answer this when the situation presents itself at that time

That is VERY telling of that persons character. I feel it is absolutely inapproprate to insult anybody's anything! I echo what John Meussner said.

I feel sorry for them. I don't report, I don't confront. I say a quick prayer for them, and let them carry on while I carry on myself.

I find it unacceptable that we cannot honor the first amendment. Do you know why IT was first ? That's what the early settlers were escaping from in their home countries; the control of religion !
Part of Freedom of Religion is allowing others to practice theirs and them allowing YOU to practice yours, whether you agree or disagree with how or when or where they do it.

Religion is personal. I feel, The person insulting is lashing out and I don't think getting into an online argument is good for either party. I wouldn't respond on social media.

1st, this behavior is inappropriate and unacceptable
2nd, never have been faced with it, but would not report it, nor confront. If the person being targeted does not take the defensive action provided them, their loss even when they have been taught to turn the other cheek.

How do I feel?
Disappointed that someone I know (friend) is making themselves look small and simple.
Many times if someone exposes their belief I will respond and squeeze a little. A why? or two. That may or may not be considered 'insulting' by others.
I definitely do not report. That would be small of me.
I may private message to squeeze off channel.

Have not seen it here on ActiveRain (thankfully). If I see something insulting or over the top on Facebook, they are UNfriended as I do not want to be associated with such behavior.

People can be closed-minded out of ignorance and fear, and others are blowhards who feel like *everyone* MUST be subjected to their opinions. I am lucky to have only a couple friends on FB like this, and when they start ranting I scroll past. They aren't going to be swayed in their opinions because they are confronted. If it was on AR, it would be a case-by-case basis whether or not I would report.

I've not really seen this. And if I do, I will quickly unfriend them. I see more people being offensive in proclaiming their political beliefs and those people will get moved to a non-notification status of updates if they do it too often. (I actually did that to one of my oldest friends and sorority sisters; just couldn't take her rants on politics.)

My friends don't do that. But people show up on FB that are friends of friends' friends, and I do occasionally see some insulting posts. FB's new dislike button is there to indicate displeasure. I don't confront or give it any attention.

I would reread the post and see if you jumped to the wrong conclusion. So many times the written word can be miscontrued. Everyone here can defend themselves, so attacking someone for a comment they made to someone else may not be appropriate. A well written response may be appropriate and show them the proper way in which to communicate their perspective. We all don't have to agree on things, but we should be respectful; regardless of whether the other party was respectful. Do not bring yourself to their level of ignorance.

Only once have I found a blog in such bad taste that I felt a need to both reach out to the person and report. Sadly it feel under the "freedom of speech" even if it makes you an insensative a$$hat. The blog post is still up today and I no longer follow, or interact with that person at all.

I am fortunate that either I don't have friends/associates that do that or I haven't been on AR when that happens. Politics and religion are two things that are personal and I try to stay away from in a public forum.

I feel it is rude and definitely an awkward situation. I would not report it, because it might only be insulting to me, and others may be ok with it, or may agree with it. I feel with so many different religions today, that people need to adopt that 'live and let live' policy. If they are trying to be funny, others are not taking it that way, and if they do not know or understand that particular religion, then they need to educate themselves on it Bob Crane.
