I've had a professional do my floor plans and house measures since 1999... sellers are impressed; buyers love them; liability for incorrect square footage reporting virtually eliminated. My guy charges me $90-150 depending on the size of the home and it's money well spent. Also one of my USP's in listing presentations.

I do not do either and haven't seen it done here at all.

It depends on the home, our tax cards have floor plans on them. If it is a luxury home, then i go above and add one i complete myself with more detail

This is something I'm considering as I prefer to view listings with floor plans so I'd like to provide them with my listings.  Now to find someone to do them for me and not charge an arm and two legs. :P 

Many times owners already have the floor plan. I have drawn some ballpark plans myself. Usually, buyers can get a good idea of the floor plan from the photos.

Having it done online is expensive. The apps I have tried in the past were horrendous. I like the idea of providing one so mostly I rely on the builder brochures if I can.

The only time we include a floor plan is when the seller provides it from the builder.

There are many companies in our area that draw floor plans and I have used them as part of my marketing for many years.  

We're seeing a lot more floor plans included with the listing materials here, and there are companies who will do it for us.  Now I have to read to see if anyone has suggested which online apps are good.

I'm of the school of thought that says "don't give a prospective buyer any reason to rule out the home prior to seeing it."  Therefore, I do not include any floorplans, measurements, 360 degree photos, etc.  Virtual tours are carefully constructed as well.  Get them in so they fall in love with the house, then let them be ok with the positioning of the trash compactor.

If I am selling a new home I will provide a copy of the floor plan. I do not do it on older homes and haven't had anyone ask.

Local agents rarely provide floor plans. If I receive it from a seller I add them as attached documents in mls. 

Home Depot provides them very inexpensively if the seller doesn't already have one

I use to make my own if the seller didn't have one.  They're not required and I've stopped adding them if not handy.

Only provide floor plans for new homes. One of my sellers did have original plans so I uploaded  in MLS with other paperwork.

We do not hire a company as that is not done in our area.  We use the Floor Plans from the builder, and show additions or expansions to that particular model Susan Laxson.  Some customers do like seeing the room dimensions.  On 30 year old homes, some are original and some have had expansions. 

In my area, listing higher end homes will sometimes have floor plans. For the most part ... I echo what Marco Giancola said.

I dont do them for every listing but when I do have them, they are done by an outside company that specializes in that.  Many times there might be an addition to the property that does not show in the tax records and if there is a question on square footage, the liability is mitigated.

One thing I would point out though - I never provide the floorplan as one of the photos available to someone online either in the MLS or through Trulia, Zillow, Realtor.com, etc.  This is the easiest way for someone unscrupulous to see how the home is laid out, where doors and windows are, etc. allowing them to enter the home when no one is there.  Also, I dont state whether a home is vacant or not even if it is.  The showing agent always needs to call me first.

If one can do it themselves and makes it look professional, I don't see why not. I probably would contact the local college drafting students to get the work done.

I don't provide one unless it is an unusual property.  If I do provide one, it is only available if they come and view the property.  I am security conscious as approximately half of my clients are high net worth individuals.  I promise my clients that their floorplan won't be on the internet for all to view.

I love looking at floor plans and get a feel for the flow of the home. The former owners of our current home left the blue prints here for us. 

I think floor plans are a great selling tool.  

I worked for plans and tours virtual tour.  They asked me to draw a floor plan. I lost my know how with CAD so I drew it by hand.  I have a drafting board. They quality is no different from CAD.  

Floor plans are not common here.  I don't know if I've seen one on an existing home.

I provide a floor plan for all my listings.  My assistant (civil engineer/husband) does them and they include photos within, showing the different views.   I'm about to use a new company that has better technology and provides professional photos too, so I'll be writing a blog about that adventure!
