My wife Lori and i have lived in Sun City for the past four years. Like most boomers, we dreamed of an early retirement, but with costs sky rocketing, it looked like escaping from the rat race was beyond our reach. Then we found Sun City; one of the best kept secrets in North America. We bought a Del Webb built 1973 home and remodeled it to fit our lifestyle. What makes Sun City so special is you don't have to have millions to live here. Virtually the entire infrastructure is on a pay as you go basis and the self-governance community is unlike anything you are familar with. Home costs are modest, the quality of life is extraordinary and there is no place on earth that gives you the ammenities for so little money. My goal is to help others find the same kind of solitude and serentity of living in a stress free setting where the main purpose in life is to be happy. What's so cool is happiness is in the eyes of the beholder, and Sun City offers so many options, you can't miss finding the one(s) right for you.
Sun City is truly a unique and rare jewel. While many have heard of it as a place for old people to go to die; it is anything but. The simple truth is there is no place like it on the face of the earth. In my four years i served as a volunteer at the Sun City Visitor Center and am now a director at the Sun City Home Owners Association (SCHOA). As a volunteer there, i am the director of the Public Relations Committee. This summer, we are beginning a marketing program unlike anything an HOA has ever done. While the CC&R's are our first obligation, i see the promotion of Sun City and SCHOA as vital in our ability to help preserve the value and values Del Webb built into this incredible retirement community.
The original Sun City is the first (and best) of more than a dozen Del Webb Sun City type retirement communities in the country. We bought here in 1999 and in 2003 retired here on a permanent basis.
