My career in real estate was all but destined. It is no exaggeration to say that my life has been, and continues to be, shaped by the business. Before becoming a Realtor®, I was a skilled and exacting negotiator, representing corporate clients in multimillion-dollar advertising buys and schedules with all the major U.S. television networks.
Seymour H. Kaplan, my father, loomed large for decades in the industry in the New York tri-state area as a major developer of residential and commercial properties. His high-profile firm, Kaplan & Shure, specialized in the design and construction of multi-acre complexes-among them the famed London Terrace on Manhattan's West Side-that today still serves as a template of visionary urban planning and architectural design, and economically viable housing options for mid- to upper-income consumers in one of the nation's tightest real estate markets.
Coming to the profession with singular intensity and concentration over ten years ago, I combined my years of tutelage with my father with my academic and professional preparation, and I have begun to make my own mark in the industry in South Florida, both in the residential and commercial sectors.
I am very South Florida-focused regarding carving a niche with major investors who are looking to purchase land for ground-up projects, rental properties suitable for condo conversion, and the sell-out of any of these products. As a Sales Associate, I played a lead role in both the procurement and the sales of a $20-million condo conversion in Deerfield Beach, Florida - 118-unit, garden-style complex.
I continue to maintain strong ties with my clients even if they are not prepared to enter the marketplace at this time.
I earned my undergraduate degree (B.A.) in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Denver, and a graduate degree (M.B.A.) in Finance and Marketing at Long Island University.
I currently hold the following prestigious certifications: ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative), CIPS (Certified International Property Specialist), CRS (Certified Residential SpecialiI st), e-Pro (Internet Certification), GRI (Graduate Realtor Institute), and TRC (Transnational Referral Certificate) designations. In addition, I have completed the course requirements for the coveted CCIM (Certified Commercial Investment Member) designation, which will soon be added to my professional credentials.
