Just thought it would be nice to see some good news for the Daytona Beach area rather then all the dismal news the local papers keep sharing with everyone. They keep writing articles with titles like: "Home prices take record hit", "Housing market reverses", "Existing homes sales still lag", "Housing boom has foreclosure hangover", "Home sales, prices tank; sellers scared", "Home sales outlook falls again", "Builders facing bankruptcy" just to name a few. Here is what we found while doing a littler research on single family home sales between the years 2002 and 2007. GREATER DAYTONA BEACHAREAS 11-49SINGLE FAMILY HOMES SALESYEAR                  #SALES                    AVG SALE PRICE                     %CHANGE                  DOLLAR AMT2002                    2715                    ...

I got a recorded message from Omaha Steaks a week ago. The message let me know that someone sent me a gift.  It was going to be arriving soon and to expect it. This morning while I was pouring my coffee at 7:15 am the Daytona Beach Branch, U.S. Postal Service called they had a package for me.  I can't say I was happy my phone was ringing that early...honestly, I got nervous...maybe I forgot an appointment and with boys living away from home you can understand why my heart missed a beat.  The voice on the other end was very apologetic but in the same hand she made it clear if she did not get my correct address I won't get my present today.  Louie went to work with me and started working on some of the associates computers.  Yes sometimes the trainer provides tech support for the associat...

While shopping, thoughts popped in my mind, and every time I picked an item a new thought and another tear.  Yes, I don't really understand it.  What are the tears about? Was the tears for the mother who worries for their son or daughter or the family who awaits for dad to come home?  I don't know but I have been this way my whole life. Call me Patriotic... A great quote I read recently and I cannot remember the source, they stated, "Don't hold it against them....they are following orders...Support Our Troops!" I personally believe no one wins in war...I can't think about that now...all I can think about is that someone's mother, daughter, father, son...is fighting for my freedom.they sacrifice..in my mind what is important is to Support Our Troops! Reading through the comment thread in...

I haven't been commenting much, I have been such a busy bee.  Just like the title states We adopted a platoon. We were told don't worry about all 95, just do what you can.  We wanted to take care of them all....the best way we can.  Just like parents we do what we do and we do what we can.We didn't spend a lot of money....We decided to send them a few pieces of home.  A reminder to them "There is no place like home!" 95 Holiday Cards, 95 candy canes that is all they asked.  I had to take it one step further..if it were my son...I would want someone to do it for him!   I am still shopping and will ship it out on Saturday...any military personnel out there? What would you think a servicemen and women would appreciate?  Community Members help me and remember there is 95 of them!   Let's se...

We had beautiful weather yesterday as we arrived bright and early at the Daytona Beach Municipal Stadium on LPGA Blvd for our Police Escorted Toy Run. I volunteered to work the Coca Cola trailer where we had soda's, water and donuts for folks that arrived early. We were accepting donations for the drinks. Some folks were super generous with their money, that made me feel so good.   Santa Claus arrived on his Holiday Themed Yamaha Roadstar around 10AM. I loved the bike all decked out.  Don't ya know, it's too warm here for a sleigh and reindeer!          Santa didn't even have a chance to get off his bike before he was asked to pose for photos with one of the biker elves who was there for the ride.           Some of the younger elves played a little football while we were waiting for the...

Although this is not my original words or thoughts this article bears republishing You've heard news reports saying that the housing market is in turmoil, and that home prices are stalling, if not falling, in many areas. And it is tougher to get home financing. So does this mean it's game over - is it just too late to buy a house?Well, before you write another rent check, or write off the opportunity to buy another property, consider the following seven things you need to know when it comes to homeownership.HOMEOWNERSHIP IS A SOLID LONG-TERM INVESTMENT. In fact, it's probably the smartest investment you will ever make during your lifetime. That's because homeownership has proven to be a critical contributor of financial well-being for American families for decades. While residential rea...

Yesterday I told you about our Annual Turkey Run, it is actually our 34th Annual Turkey Run. This event is so popular that people come in from around the world to see the cars that come to Daytona Beach during Thanksgiving Weekend. If you don't want to go to the speedway to view the cars there are other places to go. I go to the Bellair Shopping Plaza for a couple reasons. My main reason? It's closer to home. Reason 2? It's a smaller type venue (even though it is not an organized event). Reason 3? The cars are are all in the same area, and reminds me of the events I used to attend weekly in Upstate NY. And... the final reason? One of 14 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible's that is there every year!        I took these night photos in 2005                  Is this not a beautiful work of art?   ...

Recently I had an incident with the Daytona Beach Police Department.  It was early morning, my normal routine, my husband and I taken our cat Sammy out.  He is an indoor cat but every morning we let him go out and enjoy the morning sun.   Now this particular morning I had a huge mess going on, two new purses in the back seat, a video and tons of paper.  My weekly accumulation of paper. Louie took my things and I started to get into the front seat.  I noticed something on the windshield and all I could notice was the words Daytona Beach Police Department. I got a little nervous, a courtesy card, what from the police?  What is that?  To my surprise it wasn't bad as a matter of fact I appreciated it. You see a police officer regularly patrols our neighborhood, it scared me as I read the ca...

I know what your thinking if your not familiar with this event and no we don't race turkeys on the beach or anything even close to that.. However it would be quite a sight to see, wouldn't it? The Annual Daytona Turkey Run is like Biketoberfest but for the Classic Car Enthusiasts! Oh yes, and I am in absolute heaven! The actual Turkey Run is held at the infield of the Daytona Beach International Speedway. Folks bring their classics from all over the country to   Show off Buy Sell or Trade The only rule is the car can be no newer then a 1979 model. There is also a swampmeet of sorts to buy and sell auto parts for almost any make or model of vehicle that you can imagine. The event at the Speedway begins on Thanksgiving Day and runs through Sunday. Tickets are 15.00, Sunday 10.00, childre...

I responded to anonymous e-mail request for the info on a particular Listing. This happens quite often. It puts me in a tough situation: I do not know anything about the person, who sent me the e-mail, so I understand that they do not want to open up. Fine, they are protecting their privacy, but at the same token I can only provide general information. That's exactly what I did. I sent the list of 35 properties, which, in my mind, were the best deals in certain price range in that area. Next day I sent a follow up e-mail asking for feedback. Often times we get nothing, this time I got the e-mail, saying that he got the info and needed some time to digest. No problem, digesting is important. So, to help the digestion, and to prevent choking, here are some thoughts on the condo market in ...

A few weeks ago I got an e-mail from a prospect in NC. He found me on the Internet, so I was already happy. I answered, he called and we discussed a lot of things. I forwarded him information, listings, wrote crazy long e-mails answering endless questions. I get e-mails quite often, send people information and usually never hear from them again but to my surprise, Mike sent me an e-mail on Friday and asked to plan showing him some condo-hotel units on Sunday. I already scheduled a business meeting with a bright young investor in Gainesville, who wanted to talk to us regarding selling the condo units he owned on the beach. I combined it with a visit a friend who just 2 weeks ago suffered a massive heart attack (and he is not even 50), so I asked my son, who is licensed and works for me, ...
