Daytona Beach adds a Boardwalk roller coaster   A roller coaster, called , is now operating at the Daytona Beach boardwalk near the Daytona Beach Pier next to the go-carts and ferris wheel.      Operating hours are 10AM to midnight except that Friday and Saturday it will be open until 1AM.  The coaster, called “Sand Blaster” was purchased in 2012 from a closed amusement park in Delaware.  The Sand Blaster has about 2700 feet of track and drops of about 65 feet.  It is about 85 feet tall.     The Daytona Beach boardwalk runs parallel to A1A on the beach from the Bandshell to the pier.  There are lots of amusements, restaurants and things to do there in addition to going to the beach.  Go fishing off the pier or play in the arcade or take in a movie at the ocean Walk Shoppes.  Visit the D...

Joe’s Crab Shack restaurant opens on the Daytona Beach PierJoe’s Crab Shack is now the exclusive food and beverage provider on the Daytona Beach Pier.  Joe’s Crab Shack was founded in Houston, Texas in 1991 and now has more than 120 locations in more than 30 states.  The  Daytona Beach Joe’s Crab Shack restaurant is their only location that operates on a pier.The City of Daytona Beach has owned the 745 foot pier since 2009.  The  Daytona Beach Pier has been closed to the public since 2009 and a nearly three-year effort has gone into renovating the 87 year old iconic structure.  The city hopes the new restaurant will revitalize the Boardwalk area.  The city and Joe’s Crab Shack together spent more than 10 Million dollars renovating the pier and the restaurant building, since both were in...
