The industry is taking notice.  United is taking a beating.  Kind of like their passenger.  :)

I bet it was. There was a great tweet from Delta that said 'thanks American Airlines' last week that I thought was funny.

What ever the reason it was very smart marketing Joe Pryor AND now you can come visit Minot ND! 

I think the other airlines will be offering the world just to put the final nail in the coffin of United....

I've flown between California and Hawaii many, many times on United. But recently, I've flown Alaska Airlines and enjoyed it much more in these times. More relaxed atmosphere, seems like there is more leg room (I fly coach), and just really enjoy its vibes and how they do business.

Doubt it. I hear Delta is now authorizing its representatives to offer up to $11,000 for bumping passengers. That's alot of scratch for an alternate flight!

Oh, I'd sure bet money on that! To some degree the entire industry got a black eye last week thanks to United.

I have family that works American, Delta, Southwest and Alaska so I try to stay away from United.  It's an interesting business so who knows.

Could be. I assume you also heard about the changes Delta is making, or may be making, in the amount of money that can be offered passengers when they are oversold! Lots of changes ahead.

Giving massive points is savvy PR, and it's free to the airline at time of giving. There's a percentage of people that never use their points.

I got 15,000 American miles taken away for an upgrade on a flight I was not even on. I cant win.

I doubt it.  It's probably just placating customers impacted by bad weather.  You'll see this once in a while when computers go down or travellers are stranded.  Not new.
