Absolutely.  I am not sure what can be done about it though except make a mental note.  This same thing happens here sometimes when agents have a market share of a condo complex and then a few agents have single listings in the same area.  They show your unit, then the one they are going to sell for the lower price.

There is nothing you can really do, but be mean and refuse to show it.

Debbie Reynolds - oh yes, I see a problem there. However, what can be done about it? To market new project, builder needs to share this information. And to a potential buyer, a listing agent cannot and should not deny to share it.

A very good question - and prompts us to come up with some good answer.

Debbie, this is a very good question. The time of an Architect is money. This all depends on if the person is flattered or wants to get paid. So I have to give you a noncommittal answer. I know of a really beautiful modern house that was built around here using old Frank Lloyd Wright plans. It is really nice. I do not know if they paid for the plans or if a copy right has a statute of limitations that expires?

This is a situation that should be anticipated. I would not worry about it. You may have the occasion to do the same thing.

The blueprints could be copyrighted. i would ask the builder and arcitech that drew up the plans for your listing. Yhey might say ok as a professional courtesy.

I dont have a problem with it, and figure it can happen one way or another.  Interesting question.

Debbie,

No, I would not have a problem with that.  The majority of the planet is in a me-too mentality.  Everyone is busy copying each other...Look at Samsung, they copied Apple and so it goes.  Builders copy other builders, you have to have guts to do or be original...I rest my case, LOL A

Architect might have issue, plans are commonly copyright protected. I would have trouble with the builder or builder's employees showing up for a walk through and measure, little you can do about the agent with a buyer... Is the builder a national brand?

Of course it would not feel right. That said, I honestly don't know what you can do about it without discriminating.
