The growth of NW Houston and Cypress has been explosive.  One of the main bright spots in the center of all of this growth has been Bridgeland.  Made up of over 11,000 acres; 3,000 acres will be made up of parks, lakes, walking/jogging trails, and open prairie.  Currently the amenities are already becoming the hot spots for new home owners.  The Lakeland Activity Center is open and includes a resort-style swimming complex with water slides, a splash pad, and a giant pool.  There are also tennis courts, a community center with a fitness room.  Bridgeland employs a full time activities director that maintains a busy schedule including activities such as fitness classes to cooking demonstrations.  Residents can also enjoy biking, fishing, and paddle boats without needed to purchase any equ...

                                                                                       Photo courtesy of Jeff Mills Houston's newest outlet malls located in Cypress, NW of Houston, is just more validation that Houston is growing that way, the Gulf prevents it from  going East.  I recently visited this mall, it is designer type stores, and pricier than the usual outlet mall.  Appealing to the "Energy Corridor" crowd.  They did have some nice stores, and I didn't leave empty handed, but it is outdoors, what were they thinking?  It's similar to the one in Round Rock Premium Outlet, but I think a few more designer stores here.  It is a haul out there, and I'm not sure why they call it "Houston Premium Outlets", it's in the boonies for now.  I'll be over in Cypress tomorrow, I might have to ...

There are MANY great subdivisions in the Northwest Houston area, but our family chose to move to Coles Crossing for three important reasons.  Number one: LOCATION, LOCATION, LOCATION.  We wanted to live in the suburbs, but not so far out that it made the day-to-day commute into town unbearable.  With its close proximity to highways 290 and 249, Coles Crossing met our goal.  Number two: EXCELLENT schools.  There are several excellent schools nearby, but having the elementary school in the center of the subdivision is definitely a plus.  It is fun and convenient to have the ability to walk or bike safely to school and back.  Also, parental involvement in our schools is AMAZING! This parental involvement definitely assists in maintaining the schools' exemplary ratings!! In August 2008 two new High schools will be opening their doors to students in our area. Cypress Ranch High School is the 9th school constructed in the district on a 130-acre site located on Fry Rd and Cypress North Houston. According to the school website, http://schools.cfisd.net/cyranch/index.htm it is a repeat design of Cypress-Wood High School which was recently completed. The school colors are blue and yellow and the mascot is the mustang. Cypress Lakes High School is the 10th high school constructed in the district. Well it's here!  I finally made it over to check out the wonderful new outlet mall which just opened in Cypress.  I'm a huge fan of Katy Mills Malls, which is an outlet mall featuring Off Saks, Last Call (Neiman Marcus), Juicy Couture, Cole Hahn and a host of other outlet stores.  It's close to Katy and convenient.  It has a movie theater and a nice mix of stores.  So I was anxious to try the new outlet mall in Cypress, which is run by the company that has my favorite outlet malls in Las Vegas, Palm Springs and Camarillo (Los Angeles) among others - all of which I have spent a pretty penny in!  So, I was familiar with the line up of stores and was pleased to see they hadn't changed the line up - including Burberry, Calvin Klein, Juicy Couture, Cole Hahn, Nike, Puma and Tahari (to name a...

Summer is here! We are approaching the end of another school year and the beginning of the summer season. Here in Houston , as opposed to Florida where we lived for 9 years, the pool is closed throughout the school year. This weekend, it reopens in our Cypress Subdivision, Sydney Harbour. My children just could not wait to dive in and safety is always a top priority. I prepare myself for the season by purchasing high SPF sunscreens; I want to make sure we enjoy our daily outdoor activities by preventing sunburn. For those of you that don't drive down 290 west, there is a new outlet mall coming to the Cypress area. I've driven by it several times and it looks to be almost complete. Some of the articles I have read say it is supposed to open in April or May 2008. Their website says the grand opening is March 27-30. There are supposed to be 120 stores in a 430,000 sq ft area.The exit is Mason road off of 290 between Mason and Fairfield place.  I recently found that some of my properties in the Cypress area of Harris County are doing better then normal.  I'm somewhat surprised by this because of our nation's economy lately (which has not has not "thank the lord" taken a huge role on real estate) and also just the general factors play a role  into heavy business in this area.  For my business in this particular area in Texas it has been above par.  Hopefully it will continue to keep doing so for further business ventures.
