REAL ESTATE TUESDAY TRIVIA   Question: Which American city/region offers the most affordable market to buy new homes?   Answer: The housing market in Youngstown, Warren and Boardman, Ohio is currently the most affordable metro area in the U.S. The City of Youngstown, named for John Young, was incorporated in 1867. Mr. Young purchased approximately 15,000 acres (the entire township) for slightly more than $16,000 in 1797 from the United States Government through the Connecticut Western Reserve Land Company. By 1798 more families were settling in the Mahoning Valley between the Mahoning River and Mill Creek Park. By 1820, Youngstown's population began to grow, as well as industrialization, with the opening of the Pennsylvania and Ohio Canal. This waterway, abandoned in 1872, was replaced ...

Now that I am addicted to golf, I had to find a place to practice after the snow started falling. I found Creekside Golf in Girard. It is a domed area that I can hit the ball 80 yards to the back wall. It also has a bullseye for hitting the ball up in the air. So far I have been practicing with my 8 iron and my pitching wedge and it is exciting to hit the back of the dome. This is a popular spot with lots of golfers practicing their swings. They even have 2 golf simulators you can sign up ahead of time to play. I still like the range better. They are open 9 to 9 everyday, but ask for a calendar as I arrived yesterday eve to practice and found that some eves they have soccer practice and the driving range is closed. I believe there is outdoor golf/driving range in the summer, but probabl...

Here is the condos at Fonderlac Village. The condos in this picture face the 15th green.  All the condos have a view of the golf course. I love my view the best which is similar to picture below. You can see the golf course and Lake Evans in the background. I live in a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo with a gas fireplace. There is an attached garage with 2 parking places and some additional storage. The fireplace keeps me toasty warm on those cool winter nights. The only bad part of living here is no golfing in the winter. The condos are located down a private road. It feels so private. Lots of trees and birds and nature! I can go walking here everyday. The Lake Club is a private country club offering an exercise room, dining room, golfing and more. If you would like to have a golf hideway and ...

Mahoning Valley Ohio Market ReportYoungstown, Boardman, Canfield, Poland, Austintown and surrounding Ohio communities in Trumbull, Mahoning, and Columbiana Counties. Bad News for the DOW . . . Good News for Real Estate?   Last week the news media was all a-buzz about the poor performance of the DOW which lost about 500 points overall. Time and again reference was made to "Black Friday" 20 years ago, almost to the day, when the DOW lost over 500 points in a single day, and over 22% of it's value. What they didn't tell you was the DOW today would have to lose well over 3,000 points to reach a loss of that same magnitude. Yes, the stock market did lose some ground, but that's GOOD news for home buyers and real estate investors; because as money moves out of the stock market it moves into ...

Well has anyone taken the course "Caught on Camera?"   I have not taken the course yet but I will be on the list when the next course is given.  I heard that this is about the agents being tested and caught on camera.  Whether it is through a Seller or buyer!  It is a 3 hour CE given here in Ohio.  Basically, it is a refersher course on the rights and responsibilites under the Sherman Anti Trust Act.  Don't get caught on camera saying and doing the wrong things!!!   I think agents need these refresher course to let them know that we cannot bad mouth another agent etc.,   Being ethical and obeying the law is the key in keeping your real estate license.   Any comments:   Maria
