My Active Rain blog really doesn't get much love.I know that ActiveRain gets a good amount of SEO, and I really should take much more advantage of all the site has to offer, but I find I focus most of my time on my Towson real estate website, realtormarney.com.I update my Towson real estate website with Towson real estate stats, regular Timonium real estate statistics, and Hunt Valley real estate updates.I share when the 2017 Baltimore County Christmas Tree pick up will happen. I found and shared the 2017 Baltimore City Christmas Tree pick up information, too! When events are happening, or news hits that could effect home prices, I write about that on my website. So, in order not to duplicate information or details, I don't post the same information here on ActiveRain. The question - shoul...

Fall in Baltimore can be a beautiful time -- once it gets here!We have had a few lovely, not-hot days, but we expect to be back in the upper 80's/low 90's next week with heat indexes higher.Though Fall truly starts September 21, we don't often see true fall weather until October. This year, predictions are that we may have a hot fall and a very rough winter. (As if our three foot snowstorm last year weren't rough enough!)There are many Fall activities in and around Baltimore - from corn mazes to big hill slides to petting zoos and more.Baltimore in the Fall is a wonderful place to live and play! For any real estate needs in Towson, Maryland or around the Baltimore Metropolitan area,THINK MARNEY IN MARYLAND!Marney KirkCummings & Co.  Just north of the Baltimore City line and oh-so-desirable for young families, the Rodgers Forge neighborhood has real estate that can inspire nostalgia. The community has a small town vibe complete with flags, lemonade stands, and top notch playgrounds. Known affectionately as "The Forge", it's a place that you should have on your radar if you need a clutch location.     Most of the houses in Rodgers Forge were built in the 1940's and 1950's and experience as the suburban version of the classic Baltimore brick rowhouse. If you are in the market for a Rodgers Forge residence this year the average sale price has climbed to $307,000 which is a 5% increase from the average $292,000 pricing of 2015.     Purchase price is tied to the number of bedrooms, the 2016 average sold price of a class...

What a lovely way to spend the day in Baltimore. There was a repeat showing on my 1560 Bluemount Road in Monkton. The buyers wanted to see the  cottage. It was my pleasure to walk the NCR trail to show this magnificent setting. The weather was perfect, sunny breezy and low 80's That middle photo below was taken from the river cottage..     And later my friends, also former clients, picked me up and treated me to some great conversation and a delicious meal at Villagio Cafe in Towson. Our waiter Amir, pictured above,  was so attentive suggesting  special dishes and checking to make sure we were enjoying this wonderful experience. Look forward to going back again and again. It was a lovely day in Baltimore!

Is this May in Towson? We have had a week of rain, rain, and more rain.It has been cold, wet, and dreary.Meanwhile, we have been waiting for our new fireplace doors to arrive, and then the new gas logs to come in. They were installed yesterday, and the technician told us that we had to run it for five hours today.Who would have imagined that on May sixth I would want to sit by the fire to enjoy the warmth?Hopefully we will see some sun and some warm weather soon! For any real estate needs in Towson, Maryland or around the Baltimore Metropolitan area,THINK MARNEY IN MARYLAND!Marney KirkCummings & Co. Yesterday we had a quick rainstorm blow through, and then a gorgeous rainbow appeared.Well, not just one rainbow, but TWO!I ran outside to get a picture, and was able to get a few, including this panoramic shot before the next rain clouds rolled in. Something I hadn't thought of before is, why are the colors in the second rainbow inverted? I figured it had something to do with the way that light reflected from water droplets, but I wasn't sure exactly why.I knew weather.com would have the scientific answer for me:The second and more faint rainbow is called the secondary rainbow. It occurs when refracted light does not escape the raindrop after being reflected the first time. Instead, the refracted light reflects off the raindrop's surface a second time as well, producing a secondary rai...

Is that Sun in Towson?I was saying to my husband the other day that I am tired of everything being so wet. SO wet. We have had rain, rain, fog, and more rain for 10+ days. Now, mind you, I am grateful it isn't snow, but I am tired of chosing shoes and pants based on what holds up well being wet.The ground is saturated. My one dog, BTW, doesn't like getting his paws wet, so you can imagine how much fun this has been for him (and us.) "Get off the patio!"Then, yesterday, to my delight -- what is that huge, bright ball in the sky?It was fleeting -- gone too quickly -- and more rain last night, clouds and fog today again...but that moment -- I just had to capture it.I hope your holidays were wonderful, and your New Year is terrific! For any real estate needs in Towson, Maryland or around the ...

Do We Take The House Off  The Market ? OR  Do We Decorate For The Holiday ? This is a question discussed with my sellers and we decided to leave the house on the market.   Photos of 577 Woodbine Ave MLS # BC 8637570 It may not sell at this time of year but it definitely will not sell if it is not on the market.Christmas is the owner's favorite holiday and her twin boys and other family members are coming home to celebrate. To say they love the seasonal decor and lots of Santas would be an understatement.  Please take a moment to view just a few of the items in the house right now.  Click to watch the slide show and adjust the sound.   And this evening we had a showing. The potential buyers and their children seemed to love it all. Do I recommend this for other clients? Never and no!  T...

A Sunrise in Towson can be spectacular, when taken in from a hill.My dad was a sailor, and he always said, "Red sky in morning, sailors take warning..." and that was the case later in the day on Thursday...but man, this sunrise was just gorgeous.I am lucky to be able to observe from a hill both sunrises and sunsets. So I can see gorgeous Towson Sunsets, and then this, a spectacular Towson Sunrise. Sunset in Towson can be beautiful, when watching from up on a hill. There are many old, tall trees, so if you aren't high up, you could miss it!Every now and then I catch a glimpse of the beauty. October tends to be spectacular sometimes when I am driving in the evening, so I am eagerly anticipating that as fall is really starting to approach. For any real estate needs in Towson, Maryland or around the Baltimore Metropolitan area,THINK MARNEY IN MARYLAND!Marney KirkKeller Williams Excellence Realty2331 York Road, Suite 100   Lutherville Timonium, MD 21093E-mail: realtormarney@yahoo.comWebsite: www.realtormarney.com Office: 410-560-5858 Cell: 410-493-4884

Best Way To Show Me The Attic   When showing this new listing 577 Woodbine Ave 21204, questions about the size of the attic came up.   Immediately my owners took these photos below  And their email said: "Here are the attic pictures I promised. The rope hanging down is the pulley over the double trap door. The piles are the attic insulation covered with the silver reflective attic foil insulation. The depressed areas in the silver are the catwalks to be able to move around."And another email...'' I think for some people the attic may be a selling point, oddly. The attic is much larger than most people would imagine. I just measured and the attic has 720 sq ft of buildable space with a 71/2’ ceiling.  Each window alcove is 7’x 41/2’.  I did not include area outside the main vertical supp...
