This is a great project further enhancing our community!    I'm very proud of the city of Hammond and Tangipahoa Parish for placing our kids first.   The size of this facility is very impressive.   The quote from Randy Albarez says it all.   Randy Albarez - “The facilities are going to be second to none in my opinion,” he said. “They are going to be state of the art. It’s going to be somewhere everyone wants to come. In any city, there is a core group of kids who participate in sports no matter what. The other group for whatever reason hasn’t been participating. I want to figure out why and get them involved.” For more, read the link below.http://www.hammondstar.com/articles/2012/03/20/top_stories/8307.txt

5 Tips to Prepare Your Home for Sale Posted on October 4, 2010 by Realty Executives By: G. M. Filisko Published 2010-02-10 11:12:47 Working to get your home ship-shape for showings will increase its value and shorten your sales time. Many buyers today want move-in-ready homes and will quickly eliminate an otherwise great home by focusing on a few visible flaws. Unless your home shines, you may endure showing after showing and open house after open house—and end up with a lower sales price. Before the first prospect walks through your door, consider some smart options for casting your home in its best light. 1. Have a home inspection Be proactive by arranging for a pre-sale home inspection. For $250 to $400, an inspector will warn you about troubles that could make potential buyers balk....

Do-It-Yourself Home Staging Advice Posted on November 1, 2011 by Realty Executives A clean, spacious kitchen will sell a lot faster than one cluttered with dishes and refrigerator magnets. You want your home to sell quickly, for the right price, but it’s hard to stand out in a buyer’s market. Home staging is an increasingly popular, cost-effective way to give your home the punch it needs to catch a buyer’s eye. One survey by the International Association of Home Staging Professionals even claims an 83 percent reduction in time on market for staged versus non-staged homes. Even a fraction of that could more than pay for the cost of home staging, but why throw away money if you don’t need to? Here are four tips to follow before you bring in a home stager to make sure your staging experien...

Are you looking to increase your leads, website traffic and online accuracy?    What if I told you it's free?   Go to Google and search your name and key terms related to your position/occupation.    For me, I usually test "Mary Mitten Real Estate".    At this time I have 560,000 results when using this exact Google phrase.     If you are not aware, the results are ranked by volume so the higher that provider's web rank, the higher it's relevance and ability to gain free leads.     I would suggest you concentrate on your first 5 pages of Google ranked websites as this will yield the highest results.     When I first began this monthly inspection 2 years ago, I found many free websites with my name as a real estate agent, but inaccurate information.     This is because I moved 4 times i...

Is this a time to buy investment real estate?    If you need income... Probably.   If you haven't noticed, banks now only pay "Zero".75% on most 3 year CDs.    Today the stock market is highly unstable and real estate has declined for years.    Are things selling in real estate?    Yes!  My team has 7 pending contracts and 2 more inking this weekend.     Why?    Targeting investors is why we have activity.    Why not connect those who need the money to those willing to pay it.    More and more investors are finding long term solutions for their income needs through real estate and deals abound for cash buyers.     Rentals are becoming more and more expensive each month because that's where the supply is shrinking.    I have some excellent listings on investment properties as well as pr...

Have breakfast with Santa Bear in Hammond on Saturday, December 4, 2010 at the Louisiana Children's Discovery Center.  From 8am to 10am, parents are encouraged to bring their children to enjoy milk and donuts, look through the museum's exhibits and take pictures with both Santa Bear as well as Santa Claus.  Make sure to bring your own cameras for the pictures, though, parents. This event has been set up to benefit the Santa Bear Christmas Crusade, who gives toys to kids (ages 2-8) of underprivileged Hammond families for the holidays.  The price of admission to the breakfast with Santa Bear is just one new, unwrapped toy from each child who attends.  You're always welcome to bring more if you would like.  The toughest age group to get enough toys for tends to be the 7 to 8-year-olds.  So...

I will admit two things: 1) most reality TV is pretty crappy and 2) I apparently love crap.  It's junk food for the mind, really.  However, I have a new guilty pleasure: "Swamp People" on the History Channel.  And it's not crap!  The show is set in the bayous of Louisiana (must be said like "Loozeeana") during the 30 day Alligator Season (yes, they have an Alligator Season).  With guys named Cleetus and Junior, how can you go wrong?  Then there's Troy (who talks like Ray, the lightning bug from Disney's "The Princess and The Frog"), who thrust his bare hand into the muddy waters to loosen the line that was caught up in the roots of the Bald Cypress trees that grow in the area...while it was attached to the alligator...THAT HE COULD NOT SEE!  Yeah, I was hooked from that point on. Then t...
