Ain't no logical reason.  Everything is fine, and things are going well.  Nothing is wrong, but I ran across this on the Information Superhighway's Interwebs, and it spoke to me.It spoke to me loudly enough that I felt it was worth sharing for anyone who needed to hear it today. What does this have to do with real estate?  Well, don't we all hope that we have a good day?  Allrighty, then... there you have it.  The official tie-in.Hope y'all enjoy.  (my, how quickly I slip into that southern accent).

Lessons in LifeI am often inspired to write because of something I have seen, experienced, or read.  This post is no different.  I just read an article entitled "The A-List" in AARP's magazine (I'm not that old, lol!!).  It resonated with me.Everywhere you turn, the world seems to be divided and everyone seems so angry.  There is so much animosity between people.  Why can't we just be nice?  Be nice to one another, help one another, and make the world a better place. Grow from grief.  I lost one of my best friends when I was a senior in High School, my father when I was in my early 30s, and my mother when I was also in my 30s.  Then just over 6 years ago I lost the love of my life.  Those losses have created such a strong empathy for others who have suffered losses and a desire to offer...

What a strange Winter we've been having in Massachusetts. It's 6 February and we've had 7" of snow in the northeast section of Massachusetts. We've had several inches of rain and the temperatures have been moderate for wintertime. Mostly in the 30s and 40s. Friday night into Saturday a Polar Blast swept through. Frigid temperatures and high winds. I went out to my vehicle at midnight 21 to start the car up. It was -9 degrees F and at 5:00 a.m. it was -15 degrees F. With the wind chill, we were down to -35 to -40 degrees F. We prepared as well as we could by raising the thermostat a could of degrees Friday morning to try and counteract the house losing temperature during the coldest part. We raised it to 72 degrees.  The house lost 3 degrees overnight dropping to 69. We also ran the dish...

Plenty of people work around others all day long, but real estate agents are pretty much on stage all day, with clients watching and witnessing their every move.Inevitably, things happen that agents wish a client weren’t around to see! But if and when they do, it really helps when a client laughs with them, instead of at them! For some reason, it seems like there’s a handful of embarrassing things that happen to almost every agent at one point or another. Let’s take a look at 7 of them, to give you some practice laughing with them if it happens on your watch:1) Getting lost It was way worse for agents back in the day before GPS was around and had to use actual maps, but getting lost can still be an issue every once in a while. Whether it’s an incorrect address, a lack of satellite servic...

Motivational Monday…Adding Value Let’s face it, most of us here are in sales. We are selling a product, our services, and ourselves.  There are a lot of us out there selling something so how do we get consumers to use us?  For example, the other day I went shopping for a pair of walking shoes. It’s something that I could probably buy online or at some other store. In the past, I’ve purchased shoes from a specialty shoe store. You might say that their niche was athletic shoes.  First stop was a big sporting goods store. It had everything…walls and racks of running, walking, standing, etc shoes. What they didn’t have was a salesperson who did anything more than bring out the matching shoe to the one I was interested in.  I ended up back at the store whose niche was athletic shoes. The sa...

As the sun was rising this morning it was a beautiful sight because it looked so huge and red. The sun rise was the beginning of a new day as well as a change in routine.Friday evening we discovered our (full) refrigerator gave up the ghost. That triggered a hurried search for a new one Saturday morning. Lucky for us all the frozen foods fit in out freezer downstairs. Also lucky for us the temp outside has been steady between 25 and 40 above so having put all our refrigeratable items in coolers and they are fine. The mad dash to find a new fridge ended on our 4th stop at a dealer/chain named Karl's. I'll post more about that later. Next stop:   Compliments via a bonus from the radio station I work with, KHRT Christian Radio. The routine change I spoke of earlier is that we decided the chu...

Ybor City, Tampa FL Stepping back in TimeWe were.  taking some time in the Tamp FL area while waiting to get on a cruise ship. Driving around we went to a section of town, called Ybor City, that had a lot of resemblance to the French Quarter of New Orleans. The ornate balconies overlooking the streets are a through back to the European influences so common in New Orleans, only here they would have been more Spanish.Small shops line the walkways and the most common are cigar shops where they hand role cigars as though they were in Cuba. People will sit a t small tables and puff away and watch the cars and people roll by.Like New Orleans, small parklets are interspersed within the blocks so that one can enjoy small grass areas. On this day, there were no people within the park, but fowl we...
