So what about the Children?  Children today seem to be victims of so many issues over which they have no control whatsoever. And yet they, according the the prescription of life, continue to grow up and become whatever they become.  But what determines the important aspects of their time?  During the school year children have little option but to attend their hours of schooling.  Most children start school in the morning and return home in the afternoon. Depending on the time of year, there is still some discretionary time left in their day to get outside and enjoy some physical activity. Again, depending on their age, some of them might be active in other organized programs such as clubs and/or sports.  Still others, and this depends more on the parents than anything else, may have onl...

Anyone who has ever crossed southern Delaware County on Powell Rd. can attest to the going being slow at times.  Traffic There's often lots of traffic and there are some tough intersections as you travel from the Polaris area to the Sawmill Parkway area (or beyond) or vice versa. Driving through Friday I could not help but notice the excavation on the north east corner of the "4 Corners" in Powell, the intersection of Liberty Rd. and Powell Rd. Someday there could  be a turn lane on that corner.  Powell acquired a 10' x 60' plot of land that could someday ease the traffic going through "downtown Powell."  There are not funds or plans to immediately put in turn lanes according to the article in  This Week News. Demolition of an old building The 117 year old building on the NE corner of ...

One afternoon a few weeks ago I was on my way to a real estate appointment. Traveling west towards the zoo on Powell Rd. to my destination on Riverside Dr., I came upon a very interesting twist to Powell Rd. I was wondering where I was headed for the old two-lane Powell Rd was closed. I was traveling on a new four-lane road (to see map please click on the four-lane road); I marveled at what I was seeing.   The Safari Golf Club along with the Columbus Zoo now has new entrances off the relocated Powell Rd. The Safari Golf Club looked so beautiful from the new Powell Rd. I had to investigate further; I drove into the club to see how the golf course has changed. The relocated Powell Rd. was constructed over a few of the old greens; those greens were replaced with 4 new holes. The clubhous...

Happy 4th of July to the High-Green Meadows community which is located in Orange Township within the Powell Ohio 43065 mailing zip code. For many years l have been lining the High-Green Meadows community streets with American flags. Residents always comment to me that they really appreciate them and that they add so much to the celebration. I must admit that all those flags fluttering in the wind are really a beautiful sight! The fun always begins with a parade.  The community children decorate their bikes and wagons. There are floats and fire trucks. On occasion the Real Living HER calliope has made an appearance in the community parade. After the parade there is a potluck picnic. The best community fun raiser is the selling of raffle tickets, which gives all residents a chance to win...

Consumers:   Please visit Discover Columbus for CURRENT Central Ohio Real Estate Market Reports - this is old news but for some reason there are still a lot of views.  Although ActiveRain / Localism has a category for market reports a local ActiveRain member was highly opposed to my sharing this information. These are the single family, townhouse and condominiums for sale and sold in the City of Powell (Powell Corporation.) Powell is a suburb of Coumbus Ohio. The report shows market demand by comparing current inventory to number of homes sold in a 15-month period.  It is a great time to buy a home in Powell, lots of inventory although some sellers have taken their homes off the market for the holidays (sadly, they did not sell.) Inventory is down from October. Inventory will go back u...

The Real Living Story about Powell / Delaware is really a story of two very different Delaware County communities.   City of Powell Olentangy School District    City of Delaware Delaware City School District                     Another Delaware County communuty that is not featured in the Real Living Story video is the Lewis Center area.  Lewis Center is east of Powell just north of the Franklin County , Delaware County line.  The Polaris mall is on the south end of Lewis Center.  The Lewis Center area is served by the Olentangy School District like Powell.
