Just outside of Middletown in the town of Wallkill is an area known as Scotchtown. This area was originally settled by Scottish peoples in the late 1700's and has grown up with the name from that time. And grown it has, into a suburban development location with a population of 8,954 in the 2000 census. Here you will find neighborhoods of homes on 1/3 to 3/4 acre lots, townhouse developments, garden apartment complexes, and some homes on larger parcels scattered about. Minutes from the Wallkill/Middletown shopping areas on Route 211 with great access to Route 17 (future I-86) and the Middletown area train station, it is only 55 miles to New York City making it a great location for commuters to look for a place to live. Many of "New York's Finest"from the Police and Fire Departments...
