All so often Missoula's surrounding communities are not mentioned when we talk numbers and stats, so for my year-end reports I picked the three that are close to Missoula.  This isn't so much a "neighborhood" report as it is a community or town report.  First off, lets start with Lolo.  Lolo is just 8 miles south of Missoula via highway 93.  It began to grow very rapidly during the boom years of the early 2000's as it was considered a more affordable alternative to Missoula and a very quick trip for commuters.  Lolo has grappled with it's growth and maintaining it's small-community feel, their school has gone through vast expansions, and the area has benefited from various commercial property expansion as well.  When pulling these numbers for Lolo I'm just including the main community o... 01/10/2012

Living up near the 45th parallel, the days are growing shorter and the temperatures have been consistently dropping. My son started grid kid football last week and my friends that are Denver Broncos fans on Facebook have been chattering about Tebow and driving me nuts. Yup, Winter time must be in the air and around the corner! Most people would probably consider me nuts but I love the winter season and seasonal changes in general. I guess it always reminds me that things will always change. Perhaps next year the Raiders will get their own form of a Tebow? :o) The market conditions here in Missoula County have declined in the past year but still remain strong in key areas with regards to the existing housing market. Uncover MontanaWith the cooperative efforts of the Travelers' Rest Preservation and Heritage Association, and the Historical Museum at Fort Missoula, the Lolo NF hosts an evening program series called Uncover Montana.The Seeley Lake Ranger District and the Missoula Ranger District offer free summer interpretive programs. These presentations are held at campgrounds or rest areas on or near the Lolo National Forest and cover topics such as wildlife, historic sites and cultures.
