Like most Lake Charles REALTORS, I am very familiar with all of Calcasieu Parish and most of the surrounding parishes of Cameron, Jeff Davis, and Beauregard. As such, I can honestly tell those moving to the Lake Charles area that Southwest Louisiana offers a multitude of locations and housing styles. When I'm asked where I live, I proudly answer, "Sulphur, LA!" Today, I'm proud to remind locals and visitors to check out the Sulphur Heritage Festival. Admission is free and the hours are as follows: 5-10 p.m. May 28 10 a.m.-10 p.m. May 29 For more information, call 527-0357 or 527-4500.

Those familiar with the legend of Contraband Bayou and the basis of Contraband Days might think that the owner of Eighty-One, Pierre Fontentot, had discovered a significant portion of the famous pirate's "stash."  I went into this shop for the first time in search of 2 vanities. As I have watched the Olympians each night, in total awe, I must admit a new desire to return to the exercise equipment, walking paths and other avenues offered in Southwest Louisian to improve my general health. What a wonderful side affect this has on our country every time the Olympics rolls around. The media tells us I am not alone. In the following months there will be a run by individuals signing up at health clubs and especially young people signing up for swimming and gymnastic lessons. Southwest Louisiana is fortunate to have progressive leaders that are thinking of its youth and also not so young. SPAR (Sulphur Parks and Recreation) is a division that runs the City of Sulphur's public recreational facilities. To learn more about Sulphur, check out the pages on Derenda.com, exc...
