The Cotee River Seafood Festival in New Port Richey was lots of fun. We had an Alligator show by the Swampmaster (unfortunately, the Swampmaster was bitten by an 8 ft. gator on Sunday and had to go to the hospital. He's doing okay now). There was a Pirate ship (they do parties). and, of course, lots and lots of seafood along with entertainment. The weather was beautiful and eveyone was very relaxed and enjoyed the festival. This came to me as an email from a fellow hummingbird lover and I know there are many of us out there. Video by Gary Breitbard taken at his friend's home. The baby was nursed by Peter Tommerup and Lee Anne Welch. This is Peter's story. :This is actually an amazing story about a baby hummingbird that I found on a  sidewalk. He couldn't fly, so I took him under my wing. At night, he  would come home to our house for safety. During the day, he was in  the backyard of the house near where I found him. About 4 days after  I found him, I was holding him in my cupped hands when his mama  came by  to feed him. She had seen me around, I guess, because she just flew  over, perched on my hand and then fed him. Can I help clean up the Oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico??    Absolutely.  I am new to this as well, but feel the need to spread the word on how to help.  My plan is to organize my local Barber Shops / Salons / Dog Groomers, etc.... for people to contribute their hair trimmings. On the off chance you missed it, Nearly 1,000 grooming salons in Petco stores began shipping donations of pet fur Friday to aid in creating booms to soak up oil from the Gulf of Mexico. Surprisingly hair extracts the oil from the water in an eco-friendly manner ( as opposed to burning it )   Matter of Trust is a non-profit that is involved in the the cleanup.  They collect hair (donations,) in donated warehouses to store and create the booms used to soak up the oil.  They leave the cleanup to the professionals, b... 05/07/2010

NALC Stamp Out Hunger National Food Drive – the largest one-day food drive in the nation and probably the world. This saturday is Stamp out Hunger National Food Drive.  It is the largest single day food drive in the Country, and probably the world.   Since its inception over 1,000,000,000 lbs (thats a Billion) of food has been delivered to the nations food banks & pantries. They could not make it any easier.   Just put your NON-Perishable Food Item(s) at the mailbox Saturday and your postman will pick it up when they deliver your mail Not sure what they are going to do when they shift to a 5 day delivery schedule, considering this event occurs on the 2nd Saturday of May.  But I imagine the day of the week really doesn't matter. New Port Richey, Florida Real Estate Market Report for March 2010 While we see an increase in Active listings compared to February, the number of Solds is also up a whopping 32% over February, so market inventory actually remains constant at 10 months (interesting development analyzing #'s in the 2nd graph.)   Now if you considered Market inventory based on what is under contract you would think we have only 3 months inventory, but that is the illusion of Short Sales, which is broken down in the 2nd graph. New Port Richey- Bark for Life and Rally for Life in Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park. About 200 people turned out for the fun (and dogs too, of course). There were lots of activities including an Agility run that any dog could try out. There were prizes for the best costumes and the SPCA Suncoast was there giving out information on their programs. The SPCA Suncoast is a no-kill facility and they rely on the public for donations and volunteer help. You can visit their website at www.spcasuncoast.com.
