While walking downtown yesterday I saw some interesting art work. First was this bronze Mermaid. I have seen here many times as she is often placed somewhere conspicuous when we have a festival or even pulled down the street for a parade. This time was different. I guess in honor of Easter, she was outfitted with a bra made out of Peeps. These being the sugar coated marshmallow treats we enjoy during the Easter holiday.   Well folks, It have been to see a play the The Lake Worth Playhouse. It was Biloxi Blues and it was a great show. The actors were excellent, especially the lead actor, Stoan Maslev, as Eugene M Jerome. I had seen the movie many years ago and loved it too. This local community theater always does a wonderful job. Their sets are inovative and elaborate and the theater itself is a beautiful well kept piece of local history. The Lake Worth Playhouse occupies the former Oakley Theatre, the oldest building on the register of the Art Deco Society of Palm Beach County. It started as a movie theater and vaudeville house and first opened its doors on November 3, 1924. Ok folks... The Street Painting Festival is over for this year and I am sorry it is done. It seemed like it was a lot better attended than last year. Since we live very close to the event, about half a block, we have lots of friends come by and use our place as a cooling off/refuleing station. YAY!!!! It is time once again for the Lake Worth Street Painting Festival. It will be held on February 26 and 27 in beautiful downtown Lake Worth. Come on down to this fantastic show. Last year more than 100,000 people came out to enjoy the art and street life this show is famous for. There will be a large area just for kids, food and adult beverages. the artists get their start on Saturday morning and need to be complete by Sunday afternoon. Sunday is the best time to come as the art is more complete then. This is just one of many events held in Lake Worth annually, Others include Reggae Fest, Latin Fest and 4th of July. Mr Mayor, Ms Stanton, and Commissioners,          I am writing to you today to express my outrage and disgust at the free spending of cash in this town. Lake Worth from all accounts has no money to spend but yet you voted to spend quite a large amount of money on something that no resident I have spoken to wants. That is the study on reconstituting the Lake Worth Police. WHY!!!!          By all accounts the Sheriffs Department has done an outstanding job. Crime is down. I don't run into the homeless every time I walk my dog and the residents are very happy with this.           Last night at my neighborhood association meeting the president, Andy Amoroso, said that he had asked every deputy he came in contact with if they would stay here should we go back and they all said no. So this me... 01/21/2011

So... It seems that Americans who are currently working are less afraid to spend their hard earned cash! This is great news to everyone. Especially those who derive their living from sales.  Hopefully this means they will begin buying homes again. Recent news reports say that Fed Chairman Ben Bernanke thinks that a "self-sustaining" recovery is taking hold because consumers and businesses are spending more. Morgan Stanley economists are saying that 4 percent growth is likely in 2011. And this may be a conservative estimate. In a very selfish way, I don't care about the rest of the economy. I just want folks to get serious about buying a home again. Business has been good here in South Florida but it should be a lot better. New USPS - United States Post Office - in Lake Worth Florida (441 & Lantana) Did you know that a USPS recently opened on the northeast corner of Lantana and 441 (State Rd 7) in Lake Worth Florida?  I didn't until last night when I spotted a little sign outside of my neighborhood.Today was my first visit to the new USPS in Lake Worth FL and it's the first time I didn't have to wait at least 5-10 minutes to mail a package and buy stamps.It turns out this new USPS location in Lake Worth Florida opened about two months ago and I've probably driven by it at least 50 times without knowing it even existed.The new USPS in Lake Worth Florida is conveniently hidden located in the strip mall on the east side of 441 (State Rd 7) right in front of the Super Target.  You really can't see the sign fro... 11/23/2010

     Good morning all. I woke up late this morning so insteadof heading to the gym, I decided to take a walk over the Lake Worth Bridge to the beach. My Jack Russell Terrier, Spanky, is always ready to go out with me so we set off.      We live pretty close to the intra-coastal and our bridge has a pretty steep grade to it even though it is a drawbridge. We have taken this walk at all hours of the day but mornings are best. The temperature was near perfect in the low 70's, the wind was very calm and the water was like glass.      The distance is about two miles round trip and we accomplishedit in 28 minutes. Not bad for a big guy huh? I guess one could argue that Spanky, kin spite of his small size helps pull me along. Most folks remark that he is walking me when they see us.       As w... 11/17/2010

Recently, a very popular morning TV broadcast had a few stories on Civility and whether or not is is dying. I often wonder the same thing. As we go thru a day, there are many occasions for us to be civil or mean. All to often the mean comes out. It seems that this is occurring more and more. I was at the grocery store a while back and a young child was running down the aisle to her mother. My partner and I were both shocked when she slowed down and actually said "excuse me" as she darted around us. To say that we were happy to hear those two little words is an understatement. We talked about it afterward and agree that this is all too rare anymore! The veterans and their supportors walked down Lake Ave holding flags as shouts and applause were delivered by the few bystanders.on the sidewalk .The veterans marched peacefully down the main street.  The city did not have the money to support the parade this year.
