The Colors Of Fall Are Coming 2While walking a few fairways this morning, I was distracted by the colors of some of the trees.  The shades are starting to emerge, and the colors are especially striking.The photo above was shot last week, but there are a lot of other trees trying to catch up now.  Over the next week there will be a much larger change and then there will be nothing but piles on the ground and bare trees.The colors are beautiful but short lived.The Colors Of Fall Are Coming 2

Throw Back Thursday  When The Rains Were Too Much It Was 66 Years ago today when the results of 3 days of rain caused by Hurricane Diane left the tate with never to be forgotten memories.  There were no flood control dams in place, and the valley created by the normally  mild Naugatuck River became a deadly and violent tsunami destroying all in it's path.The Naugatuck River cuts south from the Mass state line and ultimately flows into Long Island Sound after merging with  the Housatonic River.  From where I grew up in Waterbury's South End, I could walk to the end of the street and see the tops of the factory buildings that lined the banks of the river.The vew I got was considerably different than the  photo below offers.When the waters inally receded, 47 people had been killed, some ne...

Not A Normal Summer Haze Our sky has been hazy for a few days now and it will continue as such for a while longer.When the wind blows that haze carries more than just a tint. It also carries a fragrance of burning wood.The effects of the west Coast wildfires have crossed the country and people are being warmed to protect themselves from the hyper haze.  At risk are people with allergies as well as anyone with respiratory ailments.  WOne would think that with a heavy rain the haze would clear out, but it is replaced with the winds coming from the west.These photos are of the sky over Waterbury valley taken on a late afternoon.We can only hope that the western fires get controlled and even then we will feel the results long after that. That's Not a Normal Hazy Summer Sky
