I have lost Face with FaceBook by Robert Vegas Bob Swetz Around 2 months ago I closed 2 FaceBook accounts and still have 2 others active. The problem is with all these privacy breaches that have been going on with FaceBook I am very disappointed. Also July 14th FaceBook has a (NEW) privacy policy that the network just wants you to click agree on, and I'm sure without having the time to read it and or understand it's contents. So that being said I will no longer be logging into my 2 FaceBook accounts after July 7th because I do not want to be a part of this type of network that robs me of my personal information, data collecting, etc. If you want to find me then Google Robert Swetz, Vegas Bob and or Robert Vegas Bob Swetz there is plenty of information and other networks to find me.I wi...

I deleted one of my FaceBook accounts today and there may be more ...Late last evening and into this morning I started to unfriend family and friends at one of my FaceBook accounts. The FaceBook a account that I just deleted was opened up in March of 2008 so it took me around 2+ hours to delete everything.I know FaceBook and the FBI keep everything that was ever loaded including photos, friends, etc but I still wanted to delete what I could. I have a couple other FaceBook accounts that I will be cleaning up, dropping so called friends and acquaintances, and possibly deleting? So if for some reason you were a family member and or friend of my FaceBook account that's gone, please search Robert Swetz, Vegas Bob or Alaska Bob and I might add you as a friend ;o)

Our Peninsula Humane Society takes our pets and animals in need of homes seriously. But not all activities are serious; some are purely fun, while raising funds at the same time to support the PHS and their shelter animals. One of the fun ones is the the Easter Egg Hunt for dogs, sponsored by Wags Hotels. The previous link takes you to more information, and an online form where you can purchase your tickets in advance.Who: You and your dogWhat: Easter egg hunt for dogs, a raffle, tasty tidbits, photo op with your dog and the Easter BunnyWhere: Burgess Park, Menlo Park, CAWhen: Saturday morning, March 24, 2018Why: To have fun while raising funds for the Peninsula Humane Society and the SPCAI know 3 little members of my extended family who should be there!

Did you know that every year over 4 million people in 20 countries participate in Relay for Life? This is the American Cancer Society's big event that raises awareness of cancer and the importance of screening; it raises much-needed funds for cancer research, and creates an environment of hope, healing and camaraderie among the participants.Today, August 6, 2016, is the Relay for Life day in Menlo Park, California. Every year we join a friend's team, Joie de Vivre, and walk and talk, make new friends and touch base with others. We laugh and are somber in turns, reveling in the stories of survivors, and remembering loved ones and friends who are no longer with us. We give support to those who need it, and take solace and comfort from others. True community. This past week was a hard one a...

A day of rest was created by someone really smart.  Working as a real estate professional today is truly a 24/7 endeavor.  A single agent cannot tackle their phone round the clock, despite best efforts and working as a team leader or being part of a team has it’s limitations too. Too much busy is bad for the soul! Instead of ‘revving up’, why not ‘wind down’ once in a while.  Better yet, schedule it.  Have it blocked off in your calendar and most of all, stick to your schedule! Taking a day off is not a crime. So, today I begin my own personal quest to be Social on Sundays and take time off to rest, relax and play.  There is so much to do in so many #SiliconValleyHOODS. For our inaugural Social Sunday experience, we started with a plan:Meet a friend of my husband’s at a local restaurant...

Anyone trying to buy a home in Menlo Park right now knows that it is tough out there. There are many more buyers than sellers and many Menlo Park homes sell with multiple offers way over list price. Some homes go as much as 30% over asking, but some do not. How does a buyer make the decision about how much to offer to have the winning bid in a Menlo Park multiple offer situation and not overpay? The answer is not simple, and sometimes it is  not a question of price, but terms, like contingencies, length of escrow, length of rent back, etc. But for right now, let's just discuss price. Here are some things to keep in mind when you make an offer on a Menlo Park home in a multiple offer situation, 1. In my opinion the most important thing is, how much is this home worth to you? In ot...

What's the market like? It's a common question I hear from buyers hoping to find a home in the sought-after town of Menlo Park, CA Let's take a look, starting with a glimpse of what happened in 2014 in some of the Peninsula and Silicon Valley towns neighboring Menlo Park. This chart was prepared over a week ago, so the number of active listings has changed, as reported below.   As you can see, all these Peninsula and Silicon Valley towns show a very strong market in 2014. Days on market are very short, median sales prices are up over list prices -- all indicators of a seller's market. The question people are wondering is whether this will continue in 2015, and of course there is no crystal ball. However, there are indicators. Taking just the single-family market in Menlo Park: As of thi...

In this crazy market of homes getting five, ten, fifteen, even twenty offers, everyone knows that buyers are taking a risk when they make a non contingent offer on a Menlo Park home. This means that the buyer is waiving all rights to inspect the house as well as any rights to back out of the offer on the Menlo Park home for sale if the bank turns down the request for a loan. A non contingent offer on a Menlo Park home also means that no matter what the home appraises for, the buyer agrees to make up the difference in cash. Here is how it works.  The home is listed for $995,000. The winning offer is $1,300,000. The buyer is going to put 20% down or $$260,000 and get a loan for $1,040,000.  The buyer shows proof of funds of $350,000. Now let's say the Menlo Park real estate agent represe...
