El Arroyo is an iconic local spot in Austin. They make the best hand-squeezed margaritas and serve Black Angus beef tacos (along with many other Tex- Mex offerings) and have since 1975!A quirky marquee is out front on the corner of West 5th and Campbell. Every day they change their bill board with a new pun (everything imaginable).     They encourage you to submit your pun on their website and of course have permission to post them. It’s one of those “Keep Austin Weird” things that we all in Austin love! They post them on Instagram because everyone loves them. Our own Myrl Jeffcoat follows them as well as Kathy Streib and Endre Barath, Jr.! We all need some laughter or a chuckle each day! It's fun checking out the new pun each day.                                 Hope you enjoy these! Ha...

The Power of PositivityI came across this list on another site and it read, 8 things to remember when you think you aren't enough.  I read through the list and thought, I can sure relate to these in my real estate career, even though the post I read had nothing to do with real estate.  And, it certainly gave me some pause for thought and for things that are right in my life, for which I am grateful.  Life is about progress, not perfection.  Strive for excellence.  There is something to be learned from every situation.  We aren't all perfect, remember we crawled before we walked and walked before we ran. What you do right now can create a better outcome.  In real estate this sure is true.  What we do today will reflect in 90 or so days.  So, make those calls, write those notes, and do th...

Do you need extra time to recover from Thanksgiving? If so, November 30 has a "holiday" just for you.  November 30 is "Stay at Home Because You Are Well Day". If you're like me, that could mean drinking coffee and cuddling with a good book and a sweet kitty (like baby Mauli in the photo here-he's much bigger now.) Maybe watching a Hallmark Christmas movie with your sweetheart. Or decorating the house. Or calling good friends and catching up on the phone. Whatever makes you feel good, I hope you enjoy a free "play hooky" day on Nov. 30 and "Stay at Home Because You Are Well". Thanks for reading "Will You Stay at Home Because You're Well Nov. 30?".

The "tradition" in the Robert L. Timm house for the Saturday after Thanksgiving is to clear the home of all fall decorations and break out the Christmas Decorations. If my aging memory hasn't failed me, last year I showed you Carol's extensive mug collection. I want to show you some of her nativity scene collection that is a bit smaller. The one above is the largest and it was given to her from Tina & Timmothy. The taller pieces are 12" tall whereas the set below the tallest is 1-1/2 inches tall. This one is tiny too if you take away the cactus they reside in. I think if I noted the ethnicity of all the sets we have at least six nationalities... plus some bears (not my thing).Of course we have a poinsettia all ready (5"). There is a 3 year old one in the background that I just about kille...

Recently I jammed my right arm and have been icing it and went to my massage therapist. It wasn’t a fun session and I’m not looking forward to the next visit on Friday. Meanwhile I wanted to get my Christmas tree up and decorated. My daughter fit together my new tree (it has 1,800 LED lights and a remote, which I love), the day before Thanksgiving so it could set for a day or two, relax and fall out. We had no time to think about decorating at that time!   Friday some good friends came over and literally decorated the tree for me as we drank wine, champagne and nibbled on appetizers. The star was put on the top and what a great job they did. I'm so grateful for them doing this, it helped not having to reach up to put on each ornament. I love putting them up because each ornament has a s...

This Week…Family Fun and Finally Quiet It’s been a busy week for many people and it’s not even over. My week was spent preparing for our Thanksgiving dinner with family.   All men's miseries derive from not being ableto sit in a quiet room alone. Blaise PascalWe had about 30, which is average for a holiday dinner for us. A threatening tornado alert kept a few at home, and I can’t blame them.   I had my checklist of what I needed to make or do days leading up to Thanksgiving. And, at the last minute, I decided to put up some of my Christmas decorations including a small tree.  The monotony and solitude of a quiet life stimulates the creative mind. Albert EinsteinDinner was fun and we all enjoyed seeing each other. I don’t know about your family, but when we get together, everyone talks a...

Assessment of Week 11  Last week my picks went 0-2-1, and I saw some rare bad line movement. I got the Eagles at a pretty bad line, and they failed to cover, just barely winning against the Colts. The Vikings got absolutely destroyed without Christian Darrisaw, and their offensive line was in disarray the entire game. The Bears game pushed as I had them +3 and they lost 27-24. This week, we’re back to finding the best value on the board and making some winning picks. Ravens -4 vs. Jaguars (-110)  Say what you want about the Ravens playing in too many close games, but these two teams are not comparable. Lamar Jackson has been great this year with an 81.2 PFF grade (9th among quarterbacks), and he’s working behind the best offensive line he’s had since his MVP season. The Jaguars defense ...

I was NOT one of the crazy ones out at 4:00 or 5:00 AM but I did head to Menards at 11:00 AM.It was nothing like this picture of Best Buy but it was the busiest I'd seen it in many years. It was packed but I went with the right attitude and nearly everyone else I saw was also smiling. I even got all six things I had hoped to get 😊. I can also say I had never seen so many Menard's employees, they were everywhere and all very helpful. Even better, EVERY checkout was open.So unlike Joe in Timmothy's cartoon above I came home happy and smiling.
