This is my fourth and final gratitude post for the Thanksgiving contest hosted by Debe Maxwell, CRS .  My first post was GRATITUDE FOR OUR GRANDSONS.  My second post was GRATITUDE FOR MY COMMUNITIES.  And last week I had GRATITUDE FOR HIGH IMPACT WINDOWS.  In this final gratitude post I was to share my thanks to all medical providers including those who are first responders. When we get past a certain age we certainly spend time watching our health and have timely checkups.  If you are not doing so now, you certainly should. Chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer should be screened early and often.I am so grateful that I have, in my opinion, the best  doctors.  I see them often.  In late 2017, I concern came up concerning my prostate.  I went to a urologist and he did ...

My dad grew up in the South. Near Meridian Mississippi. Because of him, even though I grew up in San Diego, when I get tired or sick, I speak with a Southern accent. My grandma would cook me rabbit for lunch (which she killed that morning) and serve it with sweet tea. I learned that RC Cola and a Moon Pie is an acceptable meal. And y’all is a term you hear from people that care about you. But for those that aren’t aware of what it is like to be Southern, take a gander (take a look) at some of these:

Wordless Wednesday…It’s Not About the Size Do you remember the first Christmas tree you bought?  It seems that with each year and each new home our tree got bigger and bigger.  I’ll always remember, though, the first Christmas tree Larry and I had…I didn’t have to get on a stool to decorate the top of the tree!    This tree is at Kickerillo where we walk. I don’t know who decorates it or when it began but it represents what the holidays mean to me.   My parent’s neighbor gave us two boxes of ornaments and I hand-painted small wooden ornaments I’d found at a craft store. It wasn't that we couldn’t afford to go out and buy decorations for the tree, we wanted to make it our own. I didn’t want to have a tree that looked as if it came out of a showroom.  Christmas isn’t about the size of yo...

Hello,I've been apart of ActiveRain since July 2006 as was around the 1,200th member. Back in those days I was far more active, no pun intended, blogging on the platform yet that changed when blogsites became a real estate agent standard. It is funny to look back at the old posts and reflect at what may have been my mindset and goal in writing each blog post. Was it just to achieve points and rank high within Washington State or was it generate a back link to primary landing page, was it hiring agents for our office (we're a team and no longer a independent brokerage since 2010), or was it just for fun?Whatever the reason, the last 16 years on the platform has gone by to fast. Friends I made in the Advanced Access forums are no longer in real estate, have retired, and shit ... even passe...

November 2022 Thanksgiving Gratitude ChallengeMy final contribution to this challenge.  In 1984, I moved to Manchester England to go to graduate school to study Archaeology.  I loved England, the history, the interesting architecture, being able to travel around a foreign country easily, and more importantly, the people.  English people, stiff upper lip aside, are very welcoming and inclusive.  During my second year there I decided to take a part-time job to make a little extra money.  Looking around I saw an advertisement for a part-time secretarial job 3 afternoons a week.  How perfect, I thought.  Little did I know that answering that advertisement would start not just a lifetime friendship but also catapulted me into a career that I have loved ever since, and that is real estate.  T...

The New Year is on the horizon and many of us are looking ahead to a fresh start. Will this be your best year yet?Let’s ensure that 2023 is an epic year with a little forward thinking. Here are five easy ways to jumpstart your New Year and build your momentum for great things.1. Build Your Life VisionFirst, how can you do amazing things if you aren’t clear on your goals and dreams? Find clarity on what you want out of life through journaling. Then, write out your personal goal examples for the coming year and create a vision board with images that inspire and move you. This takes a little time, but the payoff is HUGE when your New Year’s motivation begins to wear off.2. Take Part in a 30 Day ChallengeNext, grab a friend or your partner and complete a challenge in January together. Not o...

Beautiful Beckett loves to cook, especially bake. Geno always said there were designated devil egg eating days: Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. He always made them and then passed the torch to son John about 8 years ago.             After Beckett was born, about when she was 4, she showed such an interest in cooking, she became his assistant. This year she mashed the egg yolks, diced the onion and helped stir in all the ingredients. I foresee in the future her dad will be the assistant, if he’s lucky! I do love macaroni and cheese and this recipe had a couple of surprises in it for me.  First, I did not know you could make macaroni and cheese without making a Bechamel Sauce first.  Martha Stewart does not use any flour.  Second, I had never thought of adding tomato paste to the cheese sauce.  It sounds like a tasty addition.I really enjoy the interaction between Martha Stewart and her mom.  When Martha says that her mom always added tomato paste to the dish, her mom says, "I used tomato soup." Ha!  I also love her mom's last line of the video, but I will let you discover that on your own.  She is so cute! And what about that featured photo that is NOT macaroni and cheese?  Well, it is kind of a mac and cheese and that is all I had. 🤪  Also, don't you think Mac and cheese would be good...
