Our Texas Bluebonnets We are proud of our Lupinus Texensis or more commmonly know as Texas Bluebonnets! They grow wild on our property every spring in huge batches along the street and all over our 5 acres.  They are the states official "Texas State Flower" so they are not allowed to be picked! They last from mid April until June. Even when they start fading & look more like weeds, we do not mow them until mid to late June when the brown foliage overpowers the beautiful blues. This allows them time to seed & germinate during the winter months,  so we are insured they come back every year! They grow to about 6 inches tall with a pretty white top. The best thing is the deer that roam around out here don't eat them! It is so hard to find plants the deer don't like! We have people stop all t...

Speechless Sundays - Ever So Grateful for Relationships in the Rain What a total surprise, two weeks in a row, to receive such thoughtful gifts from two fellow AR members who are both so dear to me. Last week's gift was super 'specific' and if I shared the photo of that, it would be clear who sent me that amazing gift. Let's just say, Ray and I both will enjoy it - immensely! THANK YOU from the depths of our hearts - we TRULY appreciate your thoughtfulness.Just as last week's gift was specific, this week's gift is location specific! The beautiful stemless wine glasses are etched with "Life is better at the lake"...and it really is!  As I have aged, I have become more and more fond of stemless glasses as I seem to have grown a bit klutzier than in years past! Seriously, we love these bea...

Speechless Sunday: a quick appetizer before dinner... well sometimes dinner takes longer to make and Diane let me know she was hungry, so with that said I thought to quickly make something easy to munch on. Try it, it is easy:The ingredients: fresh dill, capers, smoked salmon, and I did not have anything but veggie cream cheese instead of creme fraiche and of course crackers. It was a winner it kept the hunger in check.Wishing you a safe and healthy life and I look forward to your comments. Somewhat Healthy Jalapeño PoppersWe are huge jalapeño pepper fans in our house, using them for creative libations, appetizers and even in our healthy meatloaf recipe. Everything is tasty with a little pepper flavoring! In the summer, we make a lot of jalapeño poppers as we grow a ton of them in our garden. Jalapeños are super easy to grow and the plants bloom and produce very quickly. Of course, we still anxiously await the mid-summer harvest! Here's a relatively healthy jalapeño popper recipe that we use as the 'main course' and not simply as our normal appetizer poppers.Prep time: 10 minutesCook Time: 20-25 minutesYields: 2 servingsINGREDIENTS Cooking spray 4 oz 95-97% lean ground beef* 6 whole jalapeño peppers 4 oz (½ cup) low-fat plain Greek yogurt 4 oz (1 cup) shredded reduced-fat ...

Motivational Monday…Being YOU What a perfect way to begin the week by being YOU!  This means the real you…not the YOU others want you to be or that you think others want.  Today is International Being You Day!  It was created by Dr. Dain Heer 3 years ago. There are so many pressures to be a certain way…to think along the same lines as your peers.  Many want us to journey along the same path they take in life. When I was a young adult, I had what I consider a huge epiphany. I was dating someone who liked to hunt, fish, and go camping every weekend. Having never tried this, I gave it a go. I wouldn’t say that I hated every minute of it, but let’s just say that if I never went camping again, it would be too soon.  My problem was that I thought I needed to enjoy doing all of these things. M...

El Arroyo is an iconic local spot in Austin. They make the best hand-squeezed margaritas and serve Black Angus beef tacos (along with many other Tex- Mex offerings) and have since 1975!A quirky marquee is out front on the corner of West 5th and Campbell. Every day they change their bill board with a new pun (everything imaginable).      They encourage you to submit your pun on their website and of course have permission to post them. It’s one of those “Keep Austin Weird” things that we all in Austin love! They post them on Instagram because everyone loves them. Our own Myrl Jeffcoat follows them as well as Kathy Streib and chef Endre Barath, Jr.! I also see Debe Maxwell, CRS has been following them. We all need some laughter or a chuckle each day! It's fun checking out the new pun each d...

This week-end with so many sports events going on Beautiful Beckett took her jewelry making kit to Hudson’s soccer game, later in the afternoon. She was set up for business and sitting under the shade of her chair, she was happy to do something quieter, chill until the game was over. You never know what you might find siblings doing on the sidelines of the games. If there are some of her friends around they all make bracelets! This time it was just her, sitting on the sidelines, which was perfectly fine.                                    “Be happy in the moment, that’s enough. Each moment is all we need, not more,”   Mother Teresa  “Children have neither a past nor a future. Thus they enjoy the present, which seldom happens to us.”  Jean de La Bruyere

An Airbus 380 is on its way across the Atlantic. It flies consistently at 800 km/h at 30,000 feet, when suddenly a Mach 2 Eurofighter appears.   The pilot of the fighter jet slows down, flies alongside the Airbus and greets the pilot of the passenger plane by radio: "Airbus, boring flight isn’t it? Now have a look here!"   He rolls his jet on its back, accelerates, breaks through the sound barrier, rises rapidly to a dizzying height, and then swoops down almost to sea level in a breathtaking dive. He loops back next to the Airbus and asks: "Well, how was that?" The Airbus pilot answers: "Very impressive, but watch this!"   The jet pilot watches the Airbus, but nothing happens. It continues to fly straight, at the same speed. After 15 minutes, the Airbus pilot radios, "Well, how was tha...

This week-end was a sports filled week-end for Handsome Hudson and Beautiful Beckett. Hudson’s (#37) Lone Star soccer team made it to the tournament so they played 8 am and 2 pm on Saturday and 8 am this Sunday morning. Hudson missed the swim meet (can’t be in 2 places at once). Beckett swam in the swim meet and was still able to make the Hudson’s afternoon match. Hudson’s team didn’t win but they played hard and played well. Giving it your best shot is so important! There is always another day, another game!“Do you know my favorite part of the game is? The opportunity to play!”   Mike Singletary

The last few days we have been very hazy in Denver due to the wildfire smoke in Alberta Canada.    You can seriously smell fire in the air.    It sounds like there are 91 fires burning throughout the province, and 275 structures have burned.   I pray for the residents of Alberta, and hope they get these fires under control! This week was able to meet up with a past client for dinner.   Her husband passed away in November, and she had questions about the tax protest and brought her paperwork from the County.    She will travel to Spain in mid-June and told her about my trip, so in October we will meet up again and share our experiences.    Our conversations are always so fun, talking about family, experiences, and trips. Ready for some funnies?    I have found some this week that gave me...
