Historic Thomas Harper CabinThe Thomas Harper Cabin, built in 1870 by an African American family in the post-Civil War community of Jonesville near Poolesville, reflects the rich history of Montgomery County’s African American settlements. The property remained in the Harper family until 1935 and was donated to Montgomery Parks in 1976.As part of the U.S. Bicentennial celebration, the cabin was dismantled, moved to Brookside Nature Center, and reconstructed with updated materials like a new chimney and flooring. Initially, the cabin had a rear addition with clapboard siding and a whitewashed exterior and interior. The Harpers lived without electricity or indoor plumbing, with outbuildings such as a smokehouse, hen house, and orchard nearby. The downstairs was a multipurpose space with a...

If you’ve received an IRS Final Notice of Intent to Levy (Letter 1058 or LT11), you might be wondering just how "final" it actually is. The short answer? It’s pretty serious, but you still have options—if you act fast.Let’s break it down. What Is the Final Notice of Intent to Levy? This letter means the IRS is getting ready to seize your assets—that could be your bank account, wages, Social Security benefits, and even your retirement accounts (yes, including your IRA!).It’s not just a warning; it’s the last official step before they start taking action. But here’s the key: You have 30 days to respond before they can actually move forward with the levy. That means you still have time to stop it—but you can’t just ignore it and hope it goes away. What Are Your Options? If you act within the 3...

Opening Day at the Flower Fields was March 1, 2025 The Carlsbad Flower Fields in Carlsbad CA opened for business on Saturday March 1, an annual tradition. Keep in mind you must book your tickets online for a specific date and arrival time. Tickets are not available at the entrance. However, once you are in the venue you can stay as long as you wish (the Flower Fields close at 6 pm). The top photo was taken today and the Fields are obviously not at peak bloom. That often happens in late March depending on the weather. However, the fields are beautiful even when not at peak, and are a wonderful sign of the coming spring!  The Carlsbad Flower Fields have been a popular tourist attraction for more than 60 years. There are approximately 55 acres of brightly colored Ranunculus, which is repor...

Fort Benning is back, y'all! This makes me very happy because that's where my mother met my stepfather, a U.S. Army soldier at Fort Benning, Georgia. While the woke crowd did their best to erase history, I am so happy that Pete Hegseth said, "No more."  changing the name rightfully back to the original one. 🎖 • • • 🎖• • • 🎖 This military installation post, founded in 1918, was named in honor of Cpl. Fred G. Benning, who served with extraordinary heroism during World War I. For people to pretend he never existed, erodes the legacy of American history and Benning's sacrifice and bravery during wartime.  🎖 • • • 🎖• • • 🎖 Erasing someone else's name for political reasons is unacceptable by any standard. Fort Bragg has also been restored! Our family spent time there as well. Try, as some act...

Salt Lake City, Utah - The IRS is cutting 7,000 employees, and taxpayers everywhere are wondering—will this mean fewer audits, investigations, and collections? Or is the IRS shifting focus? Here’s what you need to know. Will There Be Fewer Audits?Fewer IRS agents may mean fewer random audits, especially for middle and lower-income taxpayers. But don’t get too comfortable, the IRS is prioritizing high-income earners, corporations, and those with complex tax returns. They’re also using artificial intelligence and data analytics to catch tax fraud, meaning targeted enforcement could increase.IRS Collections: A Slowdown or a Shift? With fewer employees handling collections, taxpayers who owe the IRS may experience delays in enforcement actions like wage garnishments and liens. HOW TO SELECT YOUR MOLD INSPECTOR Don't Just Hire Anyone!! Ask for references and credentials. Highly important. Not all Mold Assessors have the same education, training, experience, and expertise. Many companies have a great and effective website for marketing purposes. Many pay Google by the click to be in the first page on top, however, when checking the people doing the project, they lack the correct credentials. How do you select the best medical caretaker in your area? Most likely you spend time doing your research and asking questions and references. The same applies when selecting your Mold Inspector / Assessor. Do your due diligence so you will not be surprised when receiving your mold assessment report.  Is the selected Mold Assessor has a college degree (Engineering, Chemistry...
