Eagle, WI The area received its name when, in 1836, Thomas Sugden, John Coats and Mr. Garton came to a beautiful prairie and saw a "huge" bald headed eagle soaring overhead. The first claim was made by A.R. Hinkley but the first permanent settlers were E. Thomas and wife, who erected a house in 1836. Before the end of that year, the first mill in the town of Eagle was built in Eagleville. When the southern branch of the Milwaukee & St. Paul Railroad came through the town in 1851, the village of Eagle Center was created, leading to the eventual decline of other villages in the township. With the passing of time, the village name evolved to Eagle.   http://www.visitwaukeshacounty.com/eagle/

Are You Warming Your Home With Your Fireplace OR Cooling It Down? Love a Wood Fire? I love the ambiance of a crackling fire in the fireplace on a chilly Wisconsin winter evening.  Fireplaces are one of the most requested home features when someone is considering buying or building a home.  There is a problem though if you plan to keep your home warm with a traditional masonry fireplace without planning to make it more efficient.  The United State Department of Energy estimates that ninety percent of the heat being produced by a traditionally designed open front fireplace is going right up the chimney and not warming your home.  In fact, the fire may be drawing air from your home that you have paid to be warmed by your furnace and sending it up the chimney too. So are fireplaces a bad id...

5 Reasons To Do It NOW! Selling Your House? The conventional wisdom when selling a home has always been to wait until the ‘Spring Buying Season’. Over the years, that has seemed to make sense and is now accepted as a good strategy for those who want to sell their house and receive the best possible price. This real estate market has shattered many previously held beliefs. The wisdom of waiting for a spring market is another belief that is about to fall. Here are five reasons why? 1.) Interest Rates Are On the Rise Interest rates have spiked up rather dramatically over the last ninety days and are now over 5%. Initially, an increase in rates has a positive effect on the market as it forces buyers off the fence. However, it also eats into a buyer’s purchasing power. As rates increase, the...

Real Estate: Like a Phoenix Rising from the Ashes The real estate market has experienced difficulty over the last five years. From 2000-2006, house values climbed to unsustainable heights. Since then, we have seen much of this appreciation disappear. Now many  look at the housing market as dead and lying in the ashes of its previous glory. However, there is growing evidence that, just like the Phoenix, there is a new market currently rising from those ashes. Buyer activity is increasing The first sign of an improving market is buyers again beginning to shop for a home for themselves and their family. That is taking place right now.  Pete Flint, CEO of Trulia said in a recent press release: “We’re seeing a national resurgence of buyer and seller activity on Trulia.com. In January alone,...

5 Reasons You Should Use a Real Estate Professional Should you spend the money on a real estate commission or save that money by selling your home by yourself? That is a question many home sellers ask themselves. Today, we want to discuss why it is crucial to have a true professional guiding you through the mine field of challenges that exist in the current real estate market. The housing market today is more challenging than it has ever been and seems to be becoming more difficult each day. What impact will foreclosures have on prices? Which loan products that were available just last month are no longer available? How do you convince perspective purchasers to pull the trigger on an offer when everyone is telling them that they should see another 100 houses before they make a decision...

ASSESSED VALUE versus APPRAISED VALUE - Do you know the difference? All to often there is misunderstanding between the difference... ASSESSED value is the dollar value assigned to property for purposes of assessing taxes. APPRAISED value is the unbiased value of the property after a qualified person who is generally employed by an appraisal company, real estate company, lending institute or a bank, has completed an inspection on the property.    Courtesy of Lisa Bear RE/MAX Realty Center Surf the MLS for properties http://www.lisabear.com  http://twitter.com/RealEstateinWis http://www.facebook.com/LisaBearRealEstate  http://www.facebook.com/LisaABear   http://realestateinwisconsinlisabear.blogspot.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/lisabear  http://activerain.com/lisabear01 http://lakecount...
