Be careful about swimming, etc. before the water warms up...it can be downright icy!     The Washougal River has so much to offer for water activities!   We had a fabulous time at the Washougal River Christmas Tree Farm today. It's located 7 miles up the Washougal River. Don't worry, there are plenty of signs to lead you there. When you arrive, you will see hillsides full of perfectly grown varieties of trees to choose from such as Douglas, Noble and others.The prices vary approximately between $16 and $30, maybe more....all depending upon size. You can cut your own tree or choose one that is pre-cut to take home. They all smell so good...just like the Christmas memories you remember.       The farm is welcoming, well laid out, with lots of cheerful assistance for those who want to cut their own tree. Washougal WA downtown area is just too cute. It has grown over the 40 years that I've lived here. Businesses have moved in and out, but the charm still stays the same. I even had a business downtown in the '80's. For six years I had a dance studio called "Lil' Darlin's" and I had about 100 students. Downtown was the perfect place for my business because I was centrally located and had lots of foot traffic. My studio was also connected to Watt's Plumbing Shop which is a family business that is closed also and no longer downtown. Real Estate Market Report for Washougal, WA - Fall 2013 Daylight Savings triggers more than just turning back the clock – it signals the beginning of the holiday season with a flurry of activities through the end of the year. It also marks a slowdown in the housing market, but if past experience is any indicator, we will still see a steady stream of activity. Washougal WA Fall Leaf Colors Golden and Red Along the Washougal River Ahhhh... Fall is upon us here in Washougal, WA. The gorgeous tall fir trees are intermingled with red and golden leaf colors from the maples, hawthornes, etc.  The firery colored leaves are almost gone with the winds we've had this week. You either LOVE IT or you HATE IT. Washougal MX Races 2013! The races happen the third weekend in July every year! I know people who come from all over the United States to participate or just to watch the fired-up action of the Washougal River Motorcross!! Washougal is a great place to live and the Motorcross is part of what makes us fun!! For us living down on the Washougal River Road it's not noisy, but if you live up Hughes road...you may Love or hate the sound of the races that happen sometimes on the weekends. The races are not every day or all year long. But as for me each year, it's so exciting to see the big, beautiful semi-trucks emblazoned with the different racing company sponsors. The traffic used to be just atrocious but it has since been re-directed so no more traffic jam... 09/02/2013

We help each other in all kinds of weather and circumstances. The harder times brings out the best in this community. I am grateful for my neighbors!! This is a great place to live, especially in the summer.But floods do happen once in a great while and we have had a lot of melting snow right now. Our house is right on the Washougal River and it is close to flood stage! This is a picture taken on Jan. 7th, 2009 at about 2:30 pm. It's raining so hard right now...I think it's going to be a long night watching out for the flood. The Columbia River leading into the Washougal River is called "The Camas Slough." (Slough is pronounced "slew")  Yesterday, August 29, 2013...my nephew, "the fish whisperer" told me that over 15,000 Chinook crossed up into the channel heading up the Washougal River to spawn. Yes, there are lines of fishermen and women trying to catch just one of them! They have parked their cars up above by the railroad bridge, brought their lawnchairs and coolers and claimed a spot along the banks of the Columiba/Washougal River.   I live here on the Washougal and it is a cool time of year to watch as the "WAVES" of Salmon come UP the river. Living in the bedroom community of Washougal, WA is a good choice.  We are located about 10-15 miles east of the larger community of Vancouver, WA. Washougal is a smaller community which makes for having good neighbors, close proximity to local shopping and other great family ammenities.  Our family has lived here for over 30 years. Our children grew up and attended  school  and St. Thomas Church here. Washougal downtown is growing. We have fun activities downtown and some great new businesses too. Main street is just adorable. Washougal is located right next door to Camas, WA. Forest View in Washougal, WA has great homes for sale. (This link will update as homes are listed or sold or available.) This area is located up on the hill going up 32nd St.  This street used to be known as "Farm to Market" road.
