Along the north beach at the southern-most part of hood canal, is the tiny town of Tahuya. Every year, people gather on the first Saturday of July for Tahuya Days and celebrate the town's rich history. It's easy to relax in the laid-back surroundings, meet some warm and eclectic small town friends, perhaps try and win a raffle or maybe enjoy a World Famous Tahuya Big Dog. The annual parade seems to get longer and longer every year, with other groups from other small towns around the area coming together to throw their hat in the proverbial "Parade" ring. From show cars to tractor pulling pirate ships, and candy to water cannons, the parade never fails to make me feel like a kid. It seems that adventure is had by everyone in this perfect example of why we should take the time to "get awa...

As I was walking the Theller Wetland Trails in Belfair I noticed these pretty trilliums. They are one of my favorite flowers and they tend to grace most of the forest floors in Mason County. Trilliums are all about threes Three petals, three leaves and as you can see are often found in groups of three.  I can't help but think of the Trinity and I see them as a little reminder that I am never alone.I often think of my grandfathers favorite hymn..."In the Garden." He walks with me and he talks with me and he tells me I am his own, and the bond we share as we tarry there is like no other I have ever known.

The sky seemed confused. In all of the whispering snow the trees made an entrance to be remembered. Every lacey green legacy glowing emerald in the fleeting sun. Their days know no number and their rings are the only tale they will tell. Forgotten in the hills and remembered in my dreams, this day will always be mine.

Hood Canal in Mason County can be a busy place. It seems that a lot of people like to come out here to just unwind. One of the chosen ways to get here is to land a float plane out front of your house or cabin. Alderbrook is just across the water here and it makes it convenient to just take the boat across for a day at the spa and then back home again. The Hood Canal life is one of a kind! I love this picture. I wish I could claim it as mine. When I had my chance to get awesome pictures of Orcas in Hood canal my camera would only take the shot after they were once again under water. I have terrific shots of splashing and even better ones of fins heading below the waters surface. If you want to see these amazing creatures in real life just head to Hood Canal in Mason County.I have found the best time to be between October and December.

I took this photo when I listed a property for sale across from Lake Tahuyeh. It is a beautiful lake, and I have a lot of wonderful pictures of the parks and the deep blue waters, but this puzzles me. At the very end of the lake is a forest of dead tress. Other plants and trees are growing just fine, can anyone tell me why this part of the lake looks like this?

I heard a story the other day that shocked me. A sweet, obviously caring woman saw her devoted dog come up to the sliding glass door carrying a large, white, very dirty bunny in his mouth. Horrified the woman wrestled the dead creature away, and instantly recognized it as "Princess" the bunny belonging to the new family next door's little girl. Feeling awful, and guilty for the crime her beloved dog had committed- she washed and blow dried the dirty, smelly, dead rabbit. she could not bear to break the little girls heart, but it was inevitable...maybe this would soften the blow. She quietly placed it in it's crate next door. Then it came... the anticipated gasp, and shriek of the neighbor lady. Knowing she must have made the gruesome discovery she went over to see if she could help. Surpr...

This time of year as the leaves turn, and the air has a bit of a bite we all head indoors. Once inside we begin to notice all of the neglect our home has experienced over the busy summer. Below I am listing 10 quick fixes to update, and make your house the place you want to come home to! 1. Paint. Use some fresh colors to brighten the interior of your home. It may be cloudy outside ,but you won't even notice with your new walls! 2. Candles. Buy a few new candles and use them. The glow is comforting, and the scent can be very soothing. I prefer Warm Vanilla Sugar from Bath and Body Works, or Pumpkin Spice! Candles are very festive too! 3. Fresh Towels. I love to pick up a few new fluffy towels for the bathrooms. They make the room feel new, and you can change  your colors to match the se...

This last Friday we closed on our short sale listing. It was not easy, but with persistence we managed to get it through. We learned from the bank that they had ordered a BPO and expected the offer they accepted to be within 10% of that number. We also had a very cooperative sseller that provided everything that the bank requested. Even multiple times when the bank did not seem to have the first several copies. We learned to call every day and get updates. We didn't know that we were making progress at the time since the bank often had different answers to the same question. In the end it appeared that every cal we made took us one step closer. Now we have a happy Seller and a happy Buyer!
