As she laid her pet on the table, the vet pulled out his stethoscope and listened to the bird's chest. After a moment or two, the vet shook his head and sadly said, "I'm sorry, your duck, Cuddles, has passed away."The distressed woman wailed, "Are you sure?""Yes, I am sure. Your duck is dead," replied the vet."How can you be so sure?" she protested. "I mean you haven't done any testing on him or anything. He might just be in a coma or something."The vet rolled his eyes, turned around and left the room. He returned a few minutes later with a black Labrador Retriever. As the duck's owner looked on in amazement, the dog stood on his hind legs, put his front paws on the examination table and sniffed the duck from top to ...

My daughter has just become the Librarian, a one day a week job, at my grandchildren’s school. She needs help to organize and modernize. The last librarian left a system of notebooks and papers with book titles written out.  They apparently had an automated system years ago but it hadn't been updated and was lost in transition at some point.  This means there isn't even a card catalog system to keep track of books and check them in and out, just lists on papers.  I ask for your help on this crowd funding site...   Visitation Catholic STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Academy is a small private school in Tacoma, WA serving students from preschool to 8th grade.   We have an extensive library for both student research and leisure reading. However, we are without a card system...

Referrals Matter- ActiveRain Challenge and March ActiveRain Contest... I have been in the real estate business for almost 19 years. Over this length of time I have given several referrals. I used to use only people who were members of my corporate company networks (Coldwell Banker, RE/MAX) however I was finding my conversion rates we're in the neighborhood of 15%. It was not until I found activerain that I was able to reach a level of between 70 and 75%. How did I improve my odds of success? The first thing I did was look for agents who served in the areas my client was interested in. Starting in 2008 I was able to find several agents using ActiveRain. I threw my corporate companies under the bus and took my clients likes and dislikes into account. I then narrowed down the field of Agen...

Silly Wednesday HumorThe Dreaded CallMy boss phoned me yesterday, he said, "Is everything okay at the office?"I said, "Yes, it's all under control. It's been a very busy day, I haven't stopped.""Can you do me a favor?" he asked.I said, "Of course, what is it?""Speed it up a little, I'm in the foursome behind you."Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog post! A word from George Lane,  In the psychology of the bond and stock markets, disasters and geopolitical crises are good for interest rates. Last week was a classic example. After the North Korean nuclear test, the post-Harvey assessment and the Irma forecasts, money flowed from the stock markets into the bond  markets and interest rates hit their lowest levels of the year. But that was last week. North Korea was quiet this weekend and Irma wasn’t as devastating as predicted so the markets are settling in and rates are moving up to begin the week. Rates will continue to move up and down, but we are at the best levels of the year and it’s a great time to buy a home. Have a great week.   Interest Rates: Monday, September 11, 2017 Based on a loan amount of $200,000           Program Term Int....

Silly Sunday Humor A truck driver was driving along on the freeway and noticed a sign that read, "Low Bridge Ahead."Before he knows it, the bridge is right in front of him and his truck gets wedged under it. Cars are backed up for miles. Finally, a police car drives up. The cop gets out of his car and walks to the truck driver, puts his hands on his hips and says, "Got stuck, huh?"The truck driver says, "No, I was delivering this bridge and I ran out of gas."Thank you for reading and commenting on my blog post!
