I have been working from home the past few months and I really enjoy it. The coffee is always hot and my favorite brand. I can play whatever station I want to listen to with out anyone groaning. And dinner is always hot and on the table, not a last minute grab and go at the grocery store.                                                        The downside is the phone calls all day long. I get hang up calls from nearly every organization under the sun and if they are on the line, they proceed to tell me how bad life is, and that for just a few dollars their group can fix it. When I ask them to take me off their list they try to negotiate calling me fewer times a year. While I understand this is someone's living, I have really just about had it with the phone stalking! So I began to thin...

Part of my 4th of July weekend was spent crabbing on the Hood Canal, part of the Puget Sound waterways. This picture was taken right at the entrance to Pleasant Harbor, over on the east side of the Hood Canal (Olympic Peninsula) near Brinnon WA. ~   o   ~   o   ~   o   ~   o   ~   o   ~ Rich Jacobson is a licensed real estate professional with Windermere Real Estate, providing knowledgeable empowerment and relentless representation for his clients of residential properties and vacant land throughout all of Kitsap County WA and portions of Pierce, Mason, and Jefferson Counties. Advice for1st-Time Home Buyers in Kitsap County WA -  Top Tip No. 1 "Don't Bite Off More Than You Can Chew!" As a licensed professional real estate broker here on the Kitsap Peninsula, perhaps one of the best bits of advice I normally dispense to 1st-Time Home Buyers is for them to stay within their means. By that, I mean, determine your workable budget for purchasing your house, and stick to it. I have the pleasure of working with a lot of 1st-Time Home Buyers, especially Active-Duty Military Service Members and their families. Kitsap County WA is home to a number of U.S. Naval installations, like Bangor Submarine Base, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, and Naval Undersea Warfare Center Keyport. Unfortunately, it's easy for 1st-Time Buyers to get caught up in the excitement of purchasing the...

Two recently published articles provide us with an analysis of the real estate market, both locally and nationally. The first article, published in The Kitsap Sun, provides comparative figures for Kitsap County WA between 2009 and 2010: Lower Prices Fuel Condo Sales in 2010 The second article, published in the New York Times, offers up a more sobering perspective on the recent slump in home sales across the country: U.S. Home Prices Slump Again, Hitting New Low Over the course of my career as a licensed real estate broker, I've learned that every market dynamic poses its own unique opportunities and challenges. The recent downturn offers great opportunities to both Buyers and Investors. As we approach and reach the bottom of our current cycle, home prices will have adjusted to their low...

Dan Griffey is a dedicated professional firefighter and has been serving our community for over 23 years. He has volunteered countless hours in many community organizations and will work just as hard for us.Dan was appalled that the peoples vote was overturned again this last legislative session and that the spending increased followed by taxes. It is time that we balance our budget through fiscal responsibility. We need to reduce regulations and taxes on businesses so they want to come to Washington but more importantly want to stay. Dan agrees with the Washington State Constitution, "All political power is inherent in the people". We should have more liberty, more freedom, more opportunities and more of our tax dollars in our pockets. We can balance our budget by prioritizing funding ...

Fresh out of the oven - my own recipe, "Crab Pot Pie" which uses generous portions of Dungeness Crab meat that we catch right over in nearby Hood Canal WA. The base is a roasted garlic Alfredo sauce, complimented with fresh green peas, baby carrots, and sliced zucchini squash. The ingredients are placed into a porcelin ramekin (a set of 4 costs $3 at Cost Plus). Use a spare ramekin to cut-out your cover from store-bought pre-made pie crusts. Bake on 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Goes great with a tossed Romaine salad, Sour Dough French bread, and a glass of Pinot Grigio. ~     o     ~     o     ~     o     ~     o     ~     o     ~ Rich Jacobson is a licensed real estate professional providing knowledgeable empowerment and relentless representation for his clients of residential prope...

One of the perils of recreational crabbing here in the Puget Sound WA is exposing yourself and your crabbing gear to potential thievery. Okay, so maybe it’s not quite as perilous as the Discovery Channel’s “Deadliest Catch,” but it certainly is extremely annoying and frustrating! We went out onto Hood Canal last Saturday afternoon to retrieve our crab pots, only to find 3 out of the 4 missing. The remaining pot had been picked clean. There are instances (usually during the weekdays) when we don’t have a lot of time, and simply drop off our crab pots, leaving them out overnight. On the weekends, when we’re not in as much of a hurry, we’ll catch some rays, or tool over to Pleasant Harbor, while we wait for our pots to fill up. Occasionally, it is entirely possible to set your pots too clo...
