Winds Blow!Windstorms are not uncommon in the Northwest this time of year.  This is at least the third one this Fall/Winter season and more are projected. We are known as The Evergreen State due to our many tall trees, but trees and winds don't always get along.  If you are new to the Northwest, having an alternative means of heat and cooking can be very useful in times like this.  If you can, a generator is a wonderful investment too.  Gas cook tops can light with a match, but don't rely on them too much or you may end up with Carbon Monoxide Poisoning. Happy Independence Day Sammamish!  We’ve seen a lot of changes through the years, but one tradition we love is the Fouth on the Plateau celebration at the Sammamish Commons.  Live music near city hall starts around 6:00 pm with vendors on site for food and activity booths. The bounce houses are fun for smaller people in the lower commons area. The fireworks start after 10pm. We like to find a piece of grass on the natural bowl in the lower commons and lay back and enjoy the show.  It’s always fun to see so many people turn out and have a great time. Parking can be a challenge, so consider arriving early and plan to walk. Having deer in my yard is nothing new. I could probably see some everyday.  What I enjoy is the transformations through the year. This spike, a young buck was probably here before as a fawn, but now that he's grown a bit, his velvet covered antler's are evident.  I can't wait to see him again in the fall when they are on full display.  06/01/2016
