The taxpayers won't like this, but the kids and teachers and parents will. The Port Townsend School Board voted to put a $33.8 million construction bond to build a new elementary school before voters this spring. The 15-year bond would give the school $33.8 million for a new Elementary campus. $17,933,418 in interest the total cost to taxpayers would be around $52 million. Under the proposal, a home valued for tax assessment at $200,000 would pay an additional $158 per year until 2012. After that, $1.73 per assessed thousand valuation. After 2012, a home valued at $325,000 would be charged $562.25 a year.
