What Is an Inspection?A home inspection takes place after you've made an offer on a home that the seller has accepted. A professional will examine the home to ensure it meets specific codes and laws as set by the city, county, and state. Put simply, the purpose of a home inspection is to make certain that the home you're about to buy doesn't have any major defects of problems that will cost you money down the road. What Are They Looking for?A home inspection usually includes an examination of a home's major systems, such as heating and air conditioning units, plumbing, and electrical systems. It might also include looking at the roof, attic, insulation, walls, ceilings, floors, windows, foundation, and basement or crawl space. Once the inspection is over, the inspector will prepare a re...

While Congress debates the latest economic stimulus package, you might be wondering how assisting distressed homeowners helps you and your community. While homeowners facing foreclosure will see the most direct benefit from a bailout, each of us has a stake in the housing market. Foreclosures drive down the value of surrounding homes. Foreclosures beget foreclosures and as more families lose their homes and move away, the entire neighborhood becomes destabilized. Foreclosed and vacant homes can also attract vandals, vagrants, and vermin.  Lower property values mean less money for community and education projects at the state, county, and city levels. In addition, the more homeowners who fall behind or default in payments, the tighter lending standards become, which means it's tougher fo...

Friday January 2, 2009 We still aren't driving flying cars yet, which I have to say is a disappointment.  The first official work day of 2009 is also a Friday, which means 2 days of no work for most of the country, then back to work on Monday. I'm glad 2008 is over, but 2009 looks to have the makings of a tough real estate market.  I should have the market updates completed by next week, so check back soon. Take care.

As the heat waves strike the rest of the country we are enjoying very mild and pleasant weather in Port Townsend, Washington.  Real Estate is plentiful, interest rates are still low, prices are dropping.  Great time to buy, AND better yet...the weather here is great if you want to get out of the heat.  around 18 inches of precipitation a year.  A couple of inches of snow in the winter.  90's are rare on a hot summer day.  Water views abound, parks, walking trails, festivals, low crime rate...a great place to live.

So far this year the DJIA ( Dow Jones Industrial Average) is down 14.44%!!  I am curious to know why people aren't taking their money out of the stock market and putting it into real estate.  The selection of property on the market is higher than it has been in years.  Jefferson county washington state is experiencing a slow market, but prices haven't plummetted.  The time on the market has increased considerably, but the price has only come down a little.  But there are more homes to choose from.  This is a great time to buy.  Interest rates are still very good.

I woke up this morning determined to be optimistic and positive.  No more negativity.  The sun is shining here in Port Townsend Washington.  The temparature is around 60 degrees.  The real estate prices are great for buyers.  There are more choices than ever before.  The olympic mountains are huge and beautiful to the west and the cascades sit magjestically along the eastern horizon.  The water sparkles wonderfully and the sailboats race in the bay.  What a wonderful place to live.

Port Townsend is located on the Olympic Peninsula, nestled in a rain shadow created by the Olympic Mountain range.  This small Victorian Seaport sits upon its own little peninsula called the Quimper Peninsula.  Needless to say, there is water on 3 sides.  The real estate market here is beginning to heat up again.  Port Ludlow to the south about 15 miles is a little slower, but there are DEALS galore down there.  Awesome retirement communities.

The deals are happening!  Don't believe the media.  The interest rates are still LOW, LOW, LOW!  Inventory is huge.  If people aren't buying right now they are going to totally regret it.  We are at a point in real estate history when the deals are hard to pass up.  Low rates, large supply.  Off the Fence, it is time to buy!  Port townsend is a Victorian Seaport located on the Olympic Peninsula and sitting on another peninsula called the Quimper peninsula, in other words...water, water everywhere.  If you haven't been to Port Townsend, you MUST visit.  Views of the Cascades, Olympic mountains, stunning.

Port Townsend, Washington located in Jefferson county is experiencing a serious problem with the ferry system.  We normally have 2 boats that hold upwards of 60+ cars.  No we only have 1 ferry on loan(thank you to Pierce County) and this cute little ferry can only hold 50 cars.  Our retailers and food establishments down town are experiencing a little turn-down in their economy right now.  Anyone with pull at the state level should let the powers that be know, we need 2 ferrys that hold a decent amount of cars.  I have hope that in a couple of years we will have 2 larger ferries plying the waters, plus a passenger ferry service to Seattle.  Cross your fingers.
