Market Statistics Camas WA Home Prices October 2013 Camas WA downtown just had their Annual Boo Bash and my grandkids had a blast. All the downtown shop owners set up fun Halloween displays, etc. and it seemed like every child in Camas and Washougal WA were there to trick or treat. Of course it was crowded with many fun or scary bright eyed children. My youngest daughter has a "plan" when she does the Boo Bash with her kids. Her thoughts are to start at the "bottom" of the main shopping street by Georgia Pacific and  begin with the stores and businesses there to trick or treat UP the street and the crowds are a bit smaller on the way UP the street. Thank you to all the Camas business and the Chamber of Commerce for making this fun day possible. Here is a great webpage that tells you a l...

The Boo Bash 2013 - Camas, WA The streets of Camas are closing down again this week, Wednesday October 23rd from 3pm to 5pm, for the annual Boo Bash. Each year, around this time, little ghosts and ghouls are out in full force with one thing on their mind - CANDY! Fortunately, local merchants are standing by with plenty of sweet treats, or neat Halloween prizes, for all the costumed children. The Boo Bash is always held on the Wednesday before Halloween. It's enjoyable for the entire family, and many of the merchants also get into the spirit of season by dressing up in costumes. The weather looks "spooktacular" this year with sunshine and a temperture near 72. Perfect fall weather for young trick-or-treaters. Showcase - Washington "The Evergreen State" Rugged appeals to me, in people, design, and places. Wild, natural, and beautiful - all at once. It’s probably why the Pacific Northwest is the place where I feel at home. Specifically, in a small town across the Columbia River from Portland, Oregon called Camas.Camas is actually located in Washington State, also known as the Evergreen State. With lush green forests blanketing much of the western side, it’s aptly named. Camas also sits near the mouth of the famous Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area.Rugged outdoor adventures are always just minutes away - wind surfing, kayaking, sailing, fishing, and hiking, to name a few.  We’re about one hour away from year-round skiing on Mt. Hood, two hours to the beach, and roughly three hours to th...

Where Would This Dreamy Traveler Go & Why?   Perhaps the hardest part about making a decision is making the one that best suits your own personality and life style. If given an opportunity to travel, where would this dreamy traveler go and why? I would go to Seattle and Camas, Washington because it reflects the spiritual experience of how I desire to live my life, every minute with love, grace and gratitude because that is what keeps me pumped up with my heart beating with joy.   I’ve been invited by Gayle Rich-Boxman, Realtor, Fishawk Lake Oregon to take a moment to virtually visit an area that I’ve been dreaming about in our ActiveRain blogging community. Contest The Virtual Traveller-From Fishhawk Lake Real Estate.  For some time now, I’ve enjoyed reading a blog by Debb Janes, Re...

Kayaking the LaCamas Lake in Camas WA  I'll admit, I'm a novice kayaker. We've been on kayak trips in Hawaii and Florida with guides but today we took out our new red Tamarack 120 "sit-on-top" type kayaks. I stressed all this week before this water-bound trip. I was worried that I would fall in the water just getting onto my boat. I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep up with my husband that I have nicknamed "Sparky." I was afraid...       Yes, on the way out to the middle of the LaCamas lake...I was paddling and quickly falling behind. I couldn't keep up. It felt like I was "shoveling" the water the whole time. I fretted because a small wind was now coming up against my back and I might not be able to make it back to the launch area. But, lo and behold on the way back...I figured i...

65 Years of Happily Ever After - My parents, my neighbors. Congratulations to one of my favorite married couples, my parents. They have been married for 65 years today. Imagine that. Sixty five years of lving life together.  I just checked, and this is the year for gifting a sapphire. It's doubtful mom, or dad for that matter, will be getting or giving one another a sapphire. That's really not their style. Instead, they will want a quiet evening with an early dinner somewhere close to home. No fanfare, no attention. My husband and I have decided we'll tag along and foot the bill. They don't know that yet. Dad is sitting at his computer playing solitare. Mom is walking laps around the neighborhood trying to get in a mile or so of exercise before it gets warmer. I know, because we live ne...

Camas, we're number 6!  And that's a good thing. Okay,  you don't normally hear someone brag about being number 6. However, in this case, there are good reasons to be pleased. First of all, this is number 6 out 100 - and one of the reasons we got a "C" grade in one category is beyond our control. Obviously, you can tell I'm pleased. It’s pretty exciting to all of us who love the lifestyle in Camas, WA, to learn that our little town scores pretty well in a recent AreaVibes livability report.  In fact we come in at number 6, out of 100 Washington cities, with populations between 0 to 10,000,000.

We could do a bit better in a couple of areas, but overall, Camas was given some decent grades. For example, we’ve earned an “A” in amenities, housing and the crime index. “B’s” in education and...
