The process of aging is a rocky one in the latter years. There are ups and downs and plenty of surprises. We've decided it's the ability to roll with the punches that makes things easier.  Recently, we had a chance to put it to the test at our multigenerational home in Camas, Washington. As you know, 95-year-old mom is the focus of most days and her health and well-being are our top priority. Last week, she woke up with some symptoms indicating a mild stroke. She knew us, but couldn't say our names. Naturally, we made an emergency appointment to see her doctor. The CAT Scan didn't show any signs of a stroke, but we are still waiting for an MRI and an eye appointment to help determine the cause of some ongoing visual disturbances. Fortunately, she's no longer struggling with names and se...

Father's Day turned out to be a memorable one at our house. A planned Father's Day/6th Birthday celebration at my son's house had to be scrapped when a pet sitter sent us this photo and text - "They found mud!"   Apparently, I (Debb), left a hose running to water hydrangeas in the back garden. Oops. The next text from the pet sitter said, "I don't do mud."  She had on a pink summer dress and was worried about getting it dirty. Why an experienced pet sitter wears a pink frock to a job is a question that comes to mind. Back to the tough mudder brudders.  These two adventurers continued to dig, roll, and eat mud for nearly twenty minutes. Driving back home, we kept her on the phone urging her to use food to lure them out of the quagmire. They are both very food motivated dogs. She did manag...

Closed Unit-Sales more than Double Last Year's Mark; With No Pause to the Rapidly Rising Sales Prices for Camas WA Real Estate in April 2021 Unit Sales for last year were affected (driven lower) by the initial government shut-down Order(s) with this year's posting more than double what we saw last year. Today is National Go Birding Day. A special thank you to Kathy Streib for the heads up. Maybe that's why we got a visit from Woody the Woodpecker. Well, that's what we called him, but we think it's actually a red-breasted sapsucker. Bernie got a quick little snippet of video too, which isn't always easy with your arms held over your head. Plus, these birds move quickly up and down and around tree trucks. It's almost like they are playing a game, "now you see me, now you don't."   As nature-loving REALTORS®, are both so appreciative that we can "Go Birding" at home. It's one of the many joys of living in ViewHomes of Clark County with Nature As Neighbors! If you too would like to experience this rewarding lifestyle, call us today, we know how to find the gems.

Closed Unit-Sales Rebound Strongly; With Sales Prices Blasting Skyward to another New High for Camas WA Real Estate in February 2021 Unit Sales have jumped up a month or two early from what we typically see, although we also know this number has been constrained by the relatively extremely low Inventory. The market for multi-generational homes continues to grow. While the trend isn't new,  the unique circumstances in 2020 created even more of an impetus for many families. Economics, a desire to be together, and emotional and/or physical support are key reasons families are choosing to live together under one roof.  We've been promoting and living the multi-generational lifestyle for a number of years. In fact, we are the first, and to our knowledge, only, REALTORS® who specialize in multi-generational homes in Clark County, Washington.  A choice to care for elderly parents created our reason for sharing a home.  What an adventure it's been too. Our situation is a bit different in that my sister and her husband are also living with us at our rural home in Camas. A diagnosis of dementia f...

Spring -  Celebrate the Pacific Tree Frog!   Thanks to a class of fifth-graders in Olympia, the Pacific tree frog is the official amphibian of Washington State.  Also known as the chorus frog, it’s scientific name - Pseudacris (rhymes with Ludacris) regilla - sounds like a rapper. And like Ludacris, these tiny frogs have a big song in their hearts, especially the males. Every Spring, you hear their loud  two-part ribbit designed to attract females.  The chirping stimulates other males to join in, and often, the resulting chorus of their joint efforts can be heard quite far away. It’s always sweet music to our nature-loving ears. Celebrating World Frog Day. March 20th is World Frog Day, so it’s timely that we recognize the importance of the Pacific tree frog to our environment. We love snow. This year, because of our new English Cream Golden Retriever, we were especially hoping for a snowfall event with decent accumulation. Snow finally started falling yesterday, and kept building in momentum. The deeper it got, the more entertaining it became to 10-month-old Finnegan.  He never tires of chasing tennis balls and birds.

Homes With Views - Camas and Washougal Owning a home with a view of a river - or any vista - offers a unique living experience.  Views are always enjoyable and constantly changing.  Likewise, it will add value when you are ready to sell. We receive requests all the time from buyers who dream of having a home with views, and it's always a pleasure to help them find the right match. We are fortunate to live in the Pacific Northwest - recognized as one of the most scenic regions in the country.  This is especially true of Clark County, bordered on the south by the Columbia River.  Over eons, the "Mighty" Columbia carved natural canyons and gorges in its wake. In Clark County, this left rolling hillsides along the river which offer many vantage points with stunning views.  Likewise, some of ...
