Please, forgive me for being so late with the Month of May's activity, sometimes business gets in the way, which is a very good thing in this market!  Here is the Real Estate Market Activity for January - May 2008. Check back each month to see the monthly 2008 trend for Bremerton WA. This is the Market report for the Bremerton area of Kitsap County which includes the NWML areas of 146,148,149,150 which are areas that all have Bremerton as the city for address purposes.     There are currently 644 homes for sale with 6 of those homes listed as a contingent sale and 44 of those listed as STI (subject to inspection) which means there is a contract that has been presented and excepted by the seller with the condition of the home inspection.  Once the home inspection has taken place these 44...

Located near the public boat launch at Bremerton's Evergreen Park is the Bremerton WWI Memorial. The memorial is in memory of the local men who fought and died in WWI. There are 20 Names engraved on plates attached to the stone structure. This time of year the memorial is so gorgeous because of the flowers that are in full bloom. Stop when you are at the park and pay your respect to those that died for our freedom. Evergreen Park WWI Memorial from Jo Soss on Vimeo.

Bremerton WA :: Farmer's Market from Jo Soss on Vimeo. It's Market Time!! Bremerton Farmers Market's is in full swing! The activity has been great even though the weather has not been the best. Every Thursday, through October 9th, at 4pm across from Evergreen Park in the Seaside Church's parking lot you can find farmers, unique food sellers and high quality arts. While I was at the market there was a constant stream of shoppers having fun talking with the local vendors and ordering some BBQ from CJ's Evergreen General Store's stand. Farmer's Markets can be such a great way to meet others in your community while sharing a passion for organic gardening, beaded jewelry making, compost tweaking and several other homemade type products. I found this too be true when I had a nice visit with ...

This last Thursday and today Saturday, June 14th, were great for getting out and about in the Bremerton area. We finally received some sun and even though the temperatures were only in the mid 60's it was perfect! I decided to visit some of my favorite places in Bremerton and shoot some video so you can see this gorgeous area. One of the reasons I chose to live in Bremerton was because of the water. I love being around water and if I can't be on an ocean beach I will take any beach. This is why Evergreen Park is my favorite park in Bremerton. This must be a lot of "Bremertonites" favorite too!! Evergreen Park is the city's premier park with the highest use rates. The location is just amazing. I love just walking the trails and being able to just sit and watch people, birds and weather....

Statistics we refer to are for that part of Bremerton encompassing the downtown core and west to Kitsap Lake. The May median price for closed sales was 1.3% lower than the median for last month. Kitsap County YTD median price has fallen 6.6% over the past year.   Flag Day is Saturday, June 14th and commemorates the adoption of the flag of the United Sates which happened on June 14, 1777 by resolution of the Second Continental Congress.  In 1916 President Woodrow Wilson issued a proclamation making June 14th the official Flag Day and in August of 1949 National Flag Day was established by an Act of Congress.  So on Saturday, June 14th if you have a flag, fly it proudly.   If your flag is in need of disposal you can take it to The Fleet Reserve Association, Branch 29 located at 521 National Ave South, Bremerton for their annual flag disposal.  The Fleet Reserve Association will have its annual United States Flag burning ceremony to dispose of all unserviceable flags collected for disposal.  You may bring your flags to The Fleet Reserve Associatio...

I have always enjoyed walking, but while raising a family I never lived in an area that was close to much of what I needed. The house I own now is very close to shopping but feels very remote, I have the best of both worlds. I chose my home based on how close it was to certain establishments. I wanted to be able to be close to services in case of some kind of emergency. I never thought about the exercise or the green effect walking could do for me. When it snows here in the Oyster Bay area of Bremerton for some reason the elevated area I live on gets more snow than other areas close to the Charleston district. When it snows I can not pull out of my garage and get up the hill in front of my home. It makes me feel more in control when I know that I can walk to shopping if I needed. With ...

USS TURNER JOY (DD-951) Whenever we transferred to a new location we turn into "tourists".  We call it our new "Navy" vacation.  How many families get to live all over the country and "vacation" without leaving home?    The first year at a new duty station we spend most of our free time searching out the local area attractions. However, that isn't the case with the USS Turner Joy; we visited the USS Turner Joy prior to leaving Bremerton the first time.  In fact I think it was a "Saturday Date".    I had never been around the Navy and so I was very excited to be going on a "ship".  I hope you have the time to head down to the Bremerton Boardwalk some day and visit this very unique historical Navy "museum".  Self tours are always the best in my opinion and that is how they have designed t...

Is your County Tax Assessor on Zillow?  Does your County Tax Assessor have a Zillow Profile?         I use Zillow for lots of different things.  I have a profile, I post discussion in my local area, I post photos and I answer questions when there is Bremerton area questions asked.  Today I was over posting some photos and decided to do a little searching since there weren't any updated questions in my market area.  I typed in Kitsap County and found a few discussions. I started to read and found the Kitsap County Assessor making an introduction and conversing in Zillow discussions. I was a bit surprised and a bit intrigued. I read through the dialogs and began to get the impression that since Zillow came on the scene the Kitsap County Assessor's office phone started ringing.  I never th...

This last fall I spent some time down on the Bremerton Boardwalk taking photos of the new attractions and learning about the revitalization projects that were complete.  Harborside Fountain Park was one of my favorite.  Below is the article I wrote back in October or you can click here and see it with the fall pictures.  Click here for Harborside Article This past Thursday, with the weather being in the mid 70's and finally seeing some sun and blue sky I headed down to take more photos and some video. Today was gorgeous so I decided to update all of the Bremerton Out & About series with video.  This is the first of several showing all of the area attractions I have blogged about in the past with video.  I was amazed at how much fun the Bremerton Marina was. No, I don't have a boat and yet I had a blast walking out and looking back at the Bremerton Boardwalk. This will be a great spot to have a picnic or just sit in the sun and read a book.  I never thought I would enjoy the new Marina but you can bet I will enjoy this new attraction immensely.  I am new to video so a little shaky....Enjoy! "I want to buy a house when the prices are at their lowest." "How long before the market turns around again?" "I'll wait a while longer til prices drop a bit more." "Buy low, sell high" doesn't apply only to the stock market - it applies to real estate as well.  However, the problem that plagues stock investors also plagues the real estate investor -- how do we know we have hit bottom? As real estate agents, we listen to the financial experts, monitor the economy and the real estate market in general, watch the national trends, track home prices and foreclosure rates, and analyze the historical data.  But for all that research, and after two decades in the real estate business, I can only offer an educated guess as to when prices will be at their lowest. The inherent problem in "waiting...

Just because a seller states the home is sold "as-is" you will still need to have a home inspection done for YOU. I don't care if the seller isn't going to repair any problems and I am sure if they have had their real estate agent list the home "as-is" there are probably plenty.  "AS-IS" really is a "legal term" that is over used in the remarks section of many real estate listings.  "As-is" still must come with disclosures if the seller is aware.    Anyway, this isn't about the seller, this is about you the buyer.  If you find a home with "as-is" in the remarks section the seller is trying to tell you that they will not repair any item, so why would you pay to have an inspection done?  Why would you shell out $300-$400 dollars on an inspection that only means something to you?  THAT IS...

This is my "them, them" to all Military Spouses on Military Spouse Appreciation Day.  President Reagan designated the Friday before Mother's Day as the national Military Spouse Appreciation Day back in 1984.  Military Spouse Appreciation Day is to recognize the service and the sacrifices of military spouses.  Today President Bush spoke about how military spouses' contributions don't always get the attention they deserve, and said  "But I can tell you that every one of your efforts matters.  You do not do this only for your loved ones who are serving and sacrificing in distant lands, but for your entire community and for our county.  Your dedication, compassion and selflessness play a vital role in uplifting spirits, and our nation is deeply in your debt.
