Rainy weekend in Seattle head east to Red Mountain This late July weekend (21 & 22) is typically one of the nicest week-ends of the summer this week-end was rain and cold temperatures were predicted. Enough in dire need of sunshine we decided to pack up the dog and head to Yakima and then on to taste wine at Red Mountain. Red Mountain is one of the smallest win growing appellants in Washington State with about 1100 acres planted. It has an elevation of about 1500 feet where the days are hot days and nights are cold perfect growing temperatures for some excellent red varietals; Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, Cab Franc, Sangiovese, Malbec, and Petit Verdot Saturdays Red Mountain tastings were at; Hightower Cellars, Fidelitas and Cooper Wine Company there are approximately 22 winer...
