Anderson island is just a 20 minute ferry ride away from Steilacoom, WA, yet it's a world apart. As the ferry slips from the mainland, and the sight of Mount Rainier moves into the distance, the Island visitor leaves behind the hustle and bustle of city life and enters Island Life, where the only schedule that's important is the ferry schedule, and where there are no traffic congestion or parking problems. On the Island, time seems to have stood still and the atmosphere harkens back to an era where neighborliness was an important virtue, when people knew one another, where children could roam free on their bikes, where all the news where to be had at the general store, and the most pressing trouble was keeping the deer out of the vegetable garden. This Island is so incredibly charming ...

Ever heard of Anderson Island? The #1 question I hear from people when they ask where I live and work is "where's Anderson Island?" Well, Anderson Island is the Southern-most island in Puget Sound.  Accessed via a short 20 minute ferry ride from Steilacoom.  This lovely island has approximately 1,100 full-time residents and countless "snow-birds". Currently, the real estate market on the island offers an inventory of almost 60 homes with prices starting in the low 140's.  There's waterfront, golf course and non-view properties; something for every budget.  An added bonus is the community has 2 fresh water lakes, a salt water marina, 9 hole golf course and too many parks to list. If you don't find what you're looking for in an existing home, consider purchasing an affordable parcel with ...

No doubt the high cost of fuel has changed many families summer vaction plans this year!  My goodness I paid $4.89 per gallon last time I fueled up my diesel pickup!  Throw a camper, trailer or boat into the mix and wow does your fuel bill go up dramatically.  Here's a clever alternative that is largely unknown by most here in Pierce County. Anderson Island!  Just a short ferry ride out of Steilacoom to your new island get away.  Anderson Island is a largely rural island blessed with tall evergreens, abundant wildlife, two lakes and a nine hole golf course!  Not long ago, these lots were being sold on late night T.V. for as much as $49,000!  The current median sales price is approximately $26,000.  Inventory is way up on the Island and prices are very reasonable. It's a buyer's market o...

About Anderson Island and How I came to the Island Anderson Island has a long and rich history of which I am happy to be part of for the past 7 years. I moved to Anderson Island on December 1, 2000, from Lakewood.  I stumbled across the ferry dock one day while riding my bicycle.  I took a look at the ferry schedule and decided to go for a ride on the ferry and ride my bike around the island.  Wow!  I was in Heaven. Weeks later, I had a client come to my office and apply for a home loan....and guess what?  He was buying a home on Anderson Island.   I could not believe the price of the home he was purchasing and the thought of living on an island intrigued me enough to go looking for a home. Long story, short...I purchased a home and later sold it after Eric and I met and now we have a h...
