  Stowe, Vermont - Home Sales Market Report - 2000 through 2014   As real estate brokers, we are often asked "so, how's the market?"  During 2014, we could sense that the home sales in Stowe were picking up.  After finally taking some time to crunch the numbers, I can affirmatively say the YES, the market is picking up!   What do I look at to come to this conclusion?  Mostly just the facts. 1.  The Number of Home Sales in Stowe in 2014 were up 8%                             2.  The Average Number of Homes available for sale in 2014 was down (just a tad) by about 1% 3.  The Average Sale Price of Homes Sold in Stowe was $598,870.  That's about 9% higher than 2013. Stowe High School students are performing in the musical 'Grease' this weekend. I saw the show tonight and it was phenomenal. The kids really put their hearts into the performance. There were thirty kids in the cast and they did a phenomenal job that I am going to go back and see it again tomorrow. I would highly recommend it to anyone who enjoys good quality theatre. I enjoyed this show as much as I have enjoyed some Broadway plays.     They did an interesting rendition combining classics like Summer Lovin' interspersed with modern songs and dance moves such as One Direction's 'You Don't Know You're Beautiful'. Stowe Lacrosse Tournament 2014 is taking place this weekend with Lacrosse Camps taking place from Monday July 21st through Sunday July 27th. This is the fifth annual event held here in Stowe and has become one of the premier lacrosse events throughout the United States. Participants from grades 4-12 can attend.  Monday and Tuesday will feature a college recruitment tournament where high school teams will compete in six games over two days.  There will be 30 coaches representing Division 1-3 college teams in attendance. Every available sports field in town is full of Lacrosse players this weekend and I must have seen license plates from about twelve different states and provinces. North Country Animal League in Stowe/Morrisville, Vermont will be hosting a scavenger hunt on August 16, 2014. This fun event will take place from 12:30 until 3:30 for adults with an easier family version beginning at 1:30. Teams of two to five people will compete by answering questions and performing tasks. The entry fee is $20 for people over age ten and $10 for contestants under age ten. The event begins and ends at the corner of Main and Park Streets in Stowe. The team with the most points wins and there are points for best costumes so be sure to dress up. The 7th annual Race to the Top of Vermont will take place on Sunday, August 24th at 9 am. The event is open to runners, hikers and cyclists to climb Mt. Mansfield's 4.3 mile Toll Road Ski Trail with an approximate elevation gain of 2,500 feet. When I first heard about this event, I was impressed that people run up this trail as it is very steep in parts with a 13% average grade. I would think - Wow, how do people do that? Now that I live next door to the trail, I walk it about three times a week with my dog, Sadie. It's all a matter of perspective. The event is hosted by the Catamount Trail Association and proceeds will benefit the Catamount Trail and Vermont Land Trust.  The Catamount Trail is a wonderful trail that spans 300 miles up the length of Vermont. Stowe Gazebo Concerts will take place on four consecutive Tuesday evenings at 7:00 on the lawn of the Helen Day Memorial Building which is also the home of the Stowe Library.  The rain site is at the Stowe Community Church.  The free concerts are presented by Stowe Performing Arts in partnership with Friends of Stowe Free Library. Stowe Theatre Guild will be presenting the play 'The Secret Garden' from Wednesday through Saturday nights, August 13th through August 30th. The Secret Garden tells the story of an eleven year old orphan who goes to live with her hunchback uncle who recently lost his wife and her bed-ridden cousin. She explores the mysteries of the old house and it's disheveled gardens. As she tends to caring for the gardens, she helps to heal her sickly cousin and her haunted uncle whike coming into her own. Stowe Antique & Classic Car Show will take place for the 57th consecutive year from August 8-11, 2014.  The event will take place at Nichols Field which is just 1/10 mile north of the intersection of Route 100 and Moscow Road just south of Stowe's lower village. The town of Stowe, Vermont is gearing up for yet another festival this weekend - The Bikes, Bevs and Beats Festival will feature bicycling culture in Vermont. This weekend long festival begins at 11:30 a.m. on Friday where there will be local beer, wine and cider promotions and live music throughout the weekend at our local restaurants. Stowe Parks and Recreation will be hosting a Red Cross Babysitting Course for children aged 11+ and teenagers on Saturday, June 28, 2014 from 9:00 until 4:00. The course will take place at the David Gale Recreation Center on Park Street in Stowe.   Training will provide skills for the safe and responsible care of infants, toddles and young children including first aid, simple meal preparation, proper feeding and diapering, problem solving and conflict resolution. Stowe Wine and Food Classic will take place at Trapp Family Lodge from Friday June 13th at 5:00 through Sunday June 15th at 4:00.  This 16th annual event is a fundraiser for the benefit of Copley Hospital and The Vermont Food Bank.  The 2013 Stowe Wine & Food Classic netted $14,000 of donations split between the two charities.  In the 15 years that the event has been running, donations have raised close to $250,000 for charity. There will be tastings of over 100 wines from around the world along with an array of food choices from several area restaurants, cheese makers and brewers.  There will be wine seminars, cooking demonstrations, live and silent auctions, dancing and a gala wine pairing dinner. Music in May concerts take place every Wednesday in May at noon at The Stowe Community Church on Main Street in Stowe.  This long standing tradition draws a nice crowd and is a great and relaxing way to enjoy spring in Stowe.  The concerts are free and last for one hour.
