Burlington, Vermont is such a fun and interesting place to live. One of the things that makes Burlington so much fun are the unique events it hosts. This Saturday May 31,2014 there will be a Tree Climbing Competition. How interesting is that?! The event is sponsored by the New England Chaper of the International Society of Arboriculture and will take place between 10 a.m. and 5 p.m. One of the races is a belayed speed climb where participants climb a tree and ring a bell at 60 feet to stop the clock. Another race is called the Secured Footlock where competitors use the 'inchworm' technique to climb up the tree to 40 feet to ring a bell. The event was scheduled to take place at Lakeview Cemetary (yes, that is a very unique locale for an event) because of it's magnificent mature trees. Ho...

While I am generally not a shopper, I do enjoy outdoor stores and am so thrilled to see that L.L. Bean has just announced that it will be opening it's first store in Vermont in October. L.L. Bean will be moving into an 18,000 square foot space at Burlington Town Center located at 46 Church Street. This location is also known as 'the underground mall'. While one level of the mall is above ground, the other is sub-terranean. L.L. Bean Burlington will employ approximately one hundred people. It will be a welcome addition to the very sports oriented community in the Burlington area. I can't wait to take many of their adventure school classes. Oh, and they have nice clothes, too!

Take a look at the info below for the Burlington Vermont Real Estate Market Update - January 2014.  The comparisons to January of 2013 show some promising increases in median and average sales prices, although properties are getting slightly less of a percent of the original list price.  Single family homes seem to be spending a little more time on the market, while condos and townhomes show a trend of moving towards contract more quickly.  Do you a think this is a factor of the market or just sellers' pricing habits?  Take a look and always contact the experts at the Vermont Realty Team anytime at 802-222-6456 or visit our Burlington Vermont Real Estate Guide today!
