While there are many advantages to a planned community such as Lake Ridge, Westbridge and Old Bridge Estates, one of the most important requirements is local shopping for those everyday items - the supermarket, banks, pharmacies, the dry cleaner, florist, greeting card store, family restaurants, gymnasiums, service stations and auto repair facilities, frame store, fabric shop, vitamin store, etc.     Tacketts Mill is the original Lake Ridge Shopping Center - it is located at the entrance to the community and has the usual complement of store plus one of the two "Mickey D's" in Lake Ridge.           Lake Ridge Commons is located about at about the middle of Lake Ridge.  The anchor merchant is Giant Food Stores, a major National Capital Area food chain.  Of equal importance is the fact th...

Actually, there are FIVE BRIDGES ON THE RIVER OCCOQUAN.  Four of them are automobile bridges with 22 lanes.  The 5th is a railroad bridge with 2 tracks.  It certainly is easy to get to and from Woodbridge and the eastern part of the county. - a very popular place I would say.   The Prince William  County Parkway is a 4 lane  highway from I-66 in the west that passes over the Occoquan River and through Woodbridge.  It terminates at US 1 in the eastern section of Prince William County and is convenient to all eastern sections of the county.    This is the new 6 lane bridge that crosses the Occoquan River from Lorton in Fairfax County on Route 123 and ends at US 1 on the Woodbridge side of the river     You are looking at the 8 lanes  of I-95 that cross the Occoquan River from Fairfax Coun...

Prospective buyers need to know about the parking rictions in Prince William County that will have a positive impact on the value of your property.  The parking regulations that were passed by our Board of Supervisors contain many features that make living in our communities a much safer and more pleasant experience.Streets not lined with unsightly utility and construction trailers.Strees not made narrower when trailers, RV's and boats are parked on both sides of the streetBetter line of sight when pulling out of a parking space.Child safety enhanced - Rv's and large boat trailers restrict the driver's view of pedestrians, cyclists, skateboarders, etc.  The result of the parking restrictions can be best seen by the view of Cotton Mill Drive in Lake Ridge. It is important that your REA...

Hidden just across the Prince William County line is the waterfront community of Belmont Bay.  If you are driving down US Route 1 and cross the Occoquan River take a glance to your left and you will be surprised at what you will see.  A community Washingtonian Magazine has twice picked as one of the "best communities" to live in the DC area sits right on the Occoquan River.  So take a tour of our photo album of this hidden gem on the Occoquan River.     With a variety of choices from detached homes, townhouses, and condos buyers can find just about anything they are looking for.  What makes it even more unusual is the VRE station at the entrance to the community making the commute in to DC a breeze.  With a community pool, two sets of tennis courts, a golf course and club house you don'...

Tucked in the trees just off of Old Bridge Road in Prince William County is the quiet community of Westridge. Coming down the main tree lined drive you come upon the large community center, pond and fountain and you know you are in a neighborhood that makes you feel welcome. Many times the community of Westridge is lumped together with its neighbor Lake Ridge but you will find difference between the two. Westridge has its own community center, its home owners association and is on the "other side" of Old Bridge Road Road. Westridge has a number of different home styles from condo townhouses, townhouses and detached homes. Are you looking for a Georgian colonial, a wrap around porch or perhaps something a bit more modern? Then you will be able to find it in Westridge. Want to get some exe...

Potomac Hospital opened its doors to the residents of eastern Prince William, southern Fairfax and north Stafford Counties in 1972 following an eight year fund raising drive. Potomac has come a long way since then, growing from 29 patient beds, 115 employees and 61 physicians to 183 patient beds, more than 1000 employees and more than 250 medical staff members. It was not until Potomac Hospital opened that there was a civilian hospital  available between Fredericksburg and Alexandria. Building the hospital cut travel time for medical care by 30 to 45 minutes. In 1965 the Woodbridge Jaycees hired professional consultants to study the feasibility of building a hospital in the area. Architects were hired and at least five sites were surveyed to determine the hospital's location. The pr...
