You can learn a lot about someone when you take a peek under their kitchen sink.  And here in rural Chesapeake, Virginia, it is no different.  To the left, you can see the contents under the kitchen sink of my rural Chesapeake home.  It looks like the typical assortment of household cleaners.  But look behind the cleaners and there you will see one thing that you want to see under the sink in a property that is not supplied by city water.   Can you see it?     It is the reverse osmosis filter and holding tank that supplies my family with their drinking water at the kitchen sink.  When we first moved into our home, the previous owners had only a water softener through which the well water flowed before coming out of the taps in the bathrooms and kitchen.  As a result, the water was smell...

For those homeowners who live around the Shillelagh Road/Cahoon Parkway area in Chesapeake, you may be aware of the plans that a developer has for building a large apartment complex in the farmland between Shillelagh Road and the Eagle Point golf course.  The Planning Commission for the county has recommended that the plans be denied.  However, the city council is free to vote any way they feel compelled.  If you feel strongly about this issue, you should write your city council members or show up at the meeting tonight (May 18, 2010).  Let your voice be heard!
